The sun shone bright upon the forest of Varuga. The treetops refelcted the light, and the yellow streamed through the leaves to fall on the grassy ground. The young Kougra and his Gelert best friend were stalking through the woodland area, searching for an adventure.
"Hey, Jupe, do you think that we'll find anything exciting?" the Kougra asked with a jumpy tone. The Gelert stopped walking, and turned to his younger friend. "No, Kad, like I've said a hundred times, we won't find anything. We look all the time."
Kad's bright eyes darkened slightly at his friend's pessimistic view. He began to walk again, his paws making the leaves underfoot crunch. Jupe hurried to catch up, and he spoke again in an apologetic tone. "Sorry, Kad. I didn't mean to sound so mean. I'm just bored."
Kad gave a quick smile in the direction of Jupe, and bounded forward with a yell. "Last one to the cave is a dung pile!"
The Gelert raced after his friend, shouting about how unfair the race was, when suddenly, he realized that this part of the forest was unknown to them. He called out to Kad, "Hey, Kad, be careful!"
But, it was too late, because Kad ran into the darkness, only to find ...
