A/N: This is for the One Character Competition on HPFC. I just want to state that I don't think Bellatrix was completely lost until Azkaban and that is where I'm getting this side of her. Otherwise, I find her to be bat-shit crazy.
Snow had finally fallen and the ground was blanketed. The dirt and dinginess of the world was made to look innocent and pure, Bellatrix despised innocence and purity. She despised the sudden remembrance that she wasn't always mad, wasn't always spiteful and demented. Each flake that fell erased another small part of her insanity, each flake made her feel again.
The snow made her feel emotions she thought she had seared from her veins. Her heart started to beat again and in turn ache once more. Her husband had long turned away from her, rejecting her as she ignored him. She wanted Rodolphus like she hadn't since they were first married. She was so lost in her faded memories that she didn't know she wasn't alone.
"Bella, turn away from the window," Rodolphus sighed as he stood next to the roaring fire.
Bellatrix just continued to watch each flake fall, her head twitching as it landed. She was in a trance, broken in its surreal imagery. His voice acted as an irritant and she began to rock and mumble incoherent phrases.
"Bella, look at me!" He forcefully demanded.
She started to rock faster and her hands began to twitch.
"Turn around!" He ordered as he grabbed her shoulder.
"Avada Kedavra!" Bellatrix shouted as she whipped out her wand. As Rodolphus dropped to the ground with a look of shock on his face, Bellatrix came to.
"What have I done? What have I doneā¦" She whimpered as she kneeled next to her husband's body. She held his head in her lap as it grew colder and stiffer, not noticing the passing of time. The fire that once roared, went out completely and the light outside began to dim until she could only see her breath and his body.
She sat there until Rodolphus was taken from her grasp. She started to raise her wand but it was quickly snatched from her grasp. "How dare you!" She shouted as she took in her surroundings.
"How dare I? How dare you kill a loyal servant! Crucio!" Lord Voldemort spoke.
She couldn't think through the pain, could only feel as bits of her were reclaimed. She again descended into insanity as she blacked out.
