Flight 02
"Come fly away with me, my princess..."
"The best way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear."
Len leaned back in his seat, blue eyes trained on the movie playing front of him. It was going to be a long flight back to Japan, so he thought he would enjoy one of America's movies on the way. After all, he had almost perfected his English during his stay.
The small DVD player laid on his lap, heating up his legs. Not that he minded; the plane was freezing. He pulled his thick black winter coat closer to him as another gust of wind seemed to pass by. And only six more hours to go... Oh boy...
Len looked up from his movie abruptly when he heard someone sit beside him with a sigh. It was a girl around his age, with shoulder-length blonde hair, the bangs pulled back by white clips, a white bow resting on her head. She wore a yellow dress and a white sweater. The girl was hunched back in her chair, looking exhausted, her eyelids hiding her eyes. He blinked once, twice at her, before looking back at his movie.
"Of course you're not an elf. You're six-foot-three and had a beard since you were fifteen."
The girl next to him shifted, sitting up a little in her seat. She glanced at the DVD player in curiosity, then met Len's gaze, showing him her bright blue eyes. She smiled at him shyly. He had to admit, she was... sort of cute, what with the bow that made her look like a bunny, and her azure eyes, and those lips-
Heat instantly rushed to his cheeks and he turned away, embarrassed. Running a hand through his messy blonde bangs, he tried to focus on the movie, only to constantly feel her eyes on him. Len squirmed in his seat, uncomfortable with the attention. Finally seeming to get the hint, she looked away.
"You did it! Congratulations! World's best cup of coffee! Great job everybody! It's great to be here."
Ten more minutes into the movie and he found himself stealing glances at her. She didn't seem to have anything to do, seeing as she was just sitting there. She had pulled her sweater closer to her for a bit of warmth, but was still visibly shaking. Occasionally, she would catch him looking at her, and he would quickly avert his gaze; or he would catch her glancing at his movie.
Len sighed, unable to take it anymore, and paused the movie. The girl watched him as he took out one ear bud and handed it to her.
"Here," he muttered, avoiding her gaze, red tainting his cheeks. She raised an eyebrow, hesitantly taking the ear bud. "You... looked bored," he said to answer her silent question. He doubted his face could get any redder.
The girl gave him a toothy grin, proving him wrong as his face changed to an even darker shade of red. "Thanks! I'm Rin!"
"L-Len..." He unpaused the movie, and the two watched in silence, save the occasional giggle from Rin. To see better, she was pressing her body against his arm, barely laying her head on his shoulder. At first he was tense, but Len slowly relaxed as she snuggled up next to him. He could tell she was still shaking, though she didn't say anything.
"You stink. You smell like beef and cheese! You don't smell like Santa!"
Len moved away from Rin and shrugged off his coat, then put it around her shoulders. His face could be compared to a tomato as he did so, and Rin would have laughed, had she not looked the same. Instead, she curled into the jacket, thankful for the warmth – though it did smell a bit like bananas.
"Y-You just looked c-cold..." Len mumbled, chewing on his bottom lip. Rin giggled and smiled back at him.
"Thank you, Len." Resting her head completely on his shoulder, she cuddled up against him, turning Len to stone once more. Slowly, he moved his arm around her and pulled her closer as they watched the movie.
I hope this flight never ends...
