Author's Note: This is the prologue, just to see if anyone is interested. I have to admit, I'm basing this off of a drabble fic from quizilla ( stories/18885963/gerus-ce-1-of-3-itachi-drabble) , but whereas they had their focused on Itachi, mine will be focused on , I'm sorry if any characters are OOC, I actually haven't watched/read most of Shippuden, but I do know the story line pretty well. Enjoy!
Kumiko was standing over Sasuke's hospital bed. Her face was void of expression, her heart numb to the pain. Sasuke was lying unconscious, unaware that he killed his innocent brother.
Kumiko's grip on the scroll she was holding tightened. It was a note to Sasuke, telling him about why Itachi did it. Why Itachi killed his whole clan, but spared Sasuke's life. Kumiko knew all of this. She knew the pain that Sasuke would feel upon reading it. This note may bring back Sasuke's humanity, though- something that Itachi said he had lost. And Itachi wanted Kumiko to protect Sasuke. He wanted her to be the one to tell Sasuke everything, to help him. Kumiko and Sasuke were the only two people he had ever really loved deeply.
She sat down on the hospital bed and leaned her skinny elbows on her knees. A single tear drop fell…
Falling…
Onto the floor…
Splat.
Kumiko sniffled. The blankets behind her rustled.
"Who are you?" a rough, tired voice called to her. It was more of a demand- tell me who you are and get out- than a question.
Kumiko stood and turned to face the young man. He still looked ragged around the edges, even after he was cleaned up. His eyes were hard, looking at her with no emotion… only hate.
She stayed silent as she slowly held out the scroll. He glanced at it quickly, his gaze traveling back to her face.
"I won't hurt you," Kumiko muttered. Sasuke glared at her and snatched the scroll, unwinding it. Clearly he was offended by her small statement.
She watched as he read, watched as Sasuke's emotionless eyes widened, his mouth opened, and his tear ducts emitted the tears that he hadn't shed for quite some time. He dropped the note, looked at Kumiko.
"Who are you?" he repeated, this time his voice weak.
Kumiko sat next to Sasuke and looked at him with big sad eyes.
"I am Kumiko. I…" she fumbled around in her brain for the right words. "I was Itachi's lover."
