Prologue: A Ripple in the Pond.

People say you never truly know when your life is about to take a turn for the worst; that 'things' just happens out of the blue, with no sign, or warning-- but I knew.

"Ame-chan!" it was in the way that my mother called out to me, voice slightly raised, but nonchalantly, so unlike her.

"Okaa-san?!" I called back in acknowledgement, that I had heard her.

When she didn't answer right away, I swam to the edge of the pool, where I had left my towel, and pulled myself out. Goosebumps appeared along my arms as the cool air whipped around me. I longed to jump back into the warm waters embrace, and I was about to, until my mother spoke..

"Will you get dried and dressed, darling, I have something we need to talk about." her voice was quieter than before, and too composed, even for mum.

"Hai. I'll be right there." I answered in the direction of the back porch.

With a heavy sigh, I leaned down to pick up my perfectly folded towel; but as I did so, an errand pebble of some sort grazed the side of my foot and plunged into the blue depths of the pool, splashing up a warm spray, and leaving behind a small wave of ripples that spread out across the surface from the point of penetration.

Being slightly superstitious, much like my older brother, I quickly counted them.

Ichi..

Ni..

San..

Shi..

Go.

It was all over within seconds, but I felt like a whole eternity to me, like I was trapped in time, everything was happening in slow motion.

However, in that moment, I knew that what my mother was about to tell me, was going to be a ripple on my pond, a disturbance in my still waters, the calm before the storm; because if my superstitions were correct, if aniki was right, four major events were about to happen, in response to this first ripple, what I was about to be told.

..and I wasn't so sure that I wanted to hear it.

A.N: Okay, this is the prologue to a novel i'm currently working on. So then why have i put it in the Naruto section you ask. Its very similar.

1) Its about ninja.

2) It has a village system.

3) An organisation of antagonists.

4) It involves jutsu, and the elemental wheel.

So if your imagination is up to it, its like an AU FF Story.

I'll add a character list at the bottom here everytime a new character is introduced; it will just let you know what naruto character they are most like. There may be some/alot of oocness, obviously because they are not the naruto characters, they just have some similarities.

If you could review and tell me what you think, it will be much appreciated. :)

I need to know if i made spelling errors, or punctuation mistakes; if it draws you in; if you think anything is already copyrighted; or anything else that you have noticed, good or bad.

But before you say things are copyrighted, have a look at the following anime's:
-Flame of Recca
-Hunter x Hunter
-Nabari no Ou
-Fairy Tail
they are all about ninja, or have elemental themes, ect.. I have also noticed a lot of similarities to Naruto as well, such as, clan massacre, something sealed inside a host that when removed causes death, chuunin exams, teams of three students and a sensei, the ranking of ninja- genin, chunin, jonin.

So yeah, some of you might find that interesting to have a look at yourselves.
