It was another night. Another night of Ayato ignoring me. Or at least not appreciating me. Sure, he never forgets to hold me close as he bites my neck, but Ayato never treats me like his girl.
After living in the Sakamaki manor for so long, I started developing feelings for Ayato. But Ayato never seemed to develop feelings for me. I feel that our relationship is empty, that I feel empty.
Bored during History, I gazed outside the panoramic windows, catching sight of the night sky. The clouds folded over the moon, just stopping enough to let the craters illuminate the sky. It is so hard to sit in the front, but it's always the only seat left. You are caught right in the teacher's view. My palm held my cheek, stopping myself from dozing off. No offense to Arashi-sensei, but I really don't care about King Louis the whatever's rule!
I look over to see the Sakamaki brothers. Reiji seems to be the only one paying attention. Kanato is writing something down, but he's probably just doodling. Laito is glued to his phone. Subaru is missing, I think he's skipping again. Shu is passed out, headphones in, as expected. I look for Ayato pass my shoulder; he always sits in the back corner. His arms are folded behind his neck, and his legs stretch out over the desk in front of him. Ayato's legs are almost too long to fit, ah, he's so tall! He looks so bored as well. His jade eyes are half-open, staring outside. I wonder what he is thinking about. It is definitely isn't about the Renaissance.
"Anyways class, that is the end of today's lesson." Mr. Arashi announced. Thank Kami-sama! "You will have a presentation next week, and it will be a partner project. Please choose your partner wisely"
Maybe this is my chance! I'll ask Ayato to be partners with me, and we'll spend more time with each other!
I stand and make my way to the back of the classroom.
"Hey, Ayato-kun?" I ask
"Hmm, what's up Pancake" He replies, pulling his legs out from under the chair and sitting up. Ayato's pet-name for me is so annoying, but hopefully things will change soon.
"I was wondering if you would like to be partners for the project." I say, probably as red as a tomato.
He doesn't answer for a moment.
"If you aren't interested, that's totally fine too!" No, it really isn't. Please be my partner!
"Sure." Ayato finally answers.
"Really? Let's work hard then!" I say, raising one of my hands. A smile comes onto his face. I can't believe we're working together!
I. Can't. Believe. We're. Working. Together.
We are not even working together!
I told him to meet me in the library after school. Right when my last class ended, I packed my mint notebooks and cat-topped pencils right away into my purse. Then I bid my teacher good-bye and darted out the door. I went straight to the library. Ayato was there, waiting outside the door. His arms were crossed over his half-buttoned shirt. I noticed he was empty handed.
"Hi, Ayato-kun. Umm...where are your things?!" I questioned.
"Right, I know, I forget them. I just wanted to make sure you were here." He fretted, smoothing his bangs out of his face. "I will go get them right now! He added.
"Okay" I said trustingly. He dashed away, out of the hall.
In the meantime, I figured as he would probably take a while, I went into the library. Pushing the heavy door, I entered the book room. I searched through the vast aisles of countless books, and picked up a few history volumes. I thought I'd save a seat for us, and choose a seat by the entrance so Ayato wouldn't have a hard time finding me. I sat down on a burgundy armchair, placing the books upon the oak desk in front of it. Before I started to read, I look up to see if Ayato returned, but it was all just other students and the librarian. A bit saddened, I cracked open "The Silent King".
I examine my pink-ink notes, and I've managed to write entire six pages on old Louis. Quite content with my progress, I roll the sleeves of my corduroy blazer up my arm to check my watch. I am stunned. Moments passed, until it has been a full, I don't know, two hours! How long does it take to get a notebook and pencil?! Ayato's notebook probably would've been empty, and he could've borrowed one of my pencils. What is even looking for! There is no way it takes him two whole hours to just grab some school supplies, unless of course, Ayato drove into the next city's office supply depot. Seriously!
The library looks so dead. Only a few people are left reading their novels, and some even fell asleep. How jealous am I! I could have slept too! I closed my books and left the library to look for Ayato.
Leaving the left-wing of my school's doors, I felt a shiver. It's so cold out. There are not many people left in the school altogether.
I ask the first person I see, who happens to be Laito-kun. I don't really want to ask him, it's just that it's hard to get an answer out of him. But he already saw me!
"Bitch-chan!" He called me. I know I said "Pancake" was annoying, but this one really takes the cake.
"Laito -kun! Did you happen to see Ayato?" I ask desperately
"No greeting, or a 'How are you, my favorite brother?'?" He argued, furrowing his brows. Oops, how could I forget my manners. It's stupid Ayato's fault!
"I'm sorry Laito-kun, I'm just so stressed out by Ayato. He left me all alone for the project we're supposed to be working on together." I explained to him. With any luck, he'll forgive me, that is, if he's in a good mood.
"Whatever you say. I haven't seen him since he was with Sakura."
"...He was with Sakura?"
"Yeah, about after school. They were talking in the hall."
I have so many questions to ask, but I can't let anyone else know about my feelings for Ayato. I can't give Laito any hints.
"I see. Thanks for telling me, Laito-kun."
He stepped closer to me, placing his finger under my chin and lifted my head to face him. I froze.
"You don't need Ayato, you have me." He said huskily. His face inched closer to mine. I could feel his breath. His lips were so near, I was taken aback.
"I'll see you later, Laito-kun!" I said, completely flustered, that I almost dropped my purse. I quickly went back into the hall but I managed to hear his last words,
"Call me, Bitch-chan!"
Not what I wanted to hear, at all!
I think I opened the door to every room in the entire building. And Ayato wasn't in any of them. I decided I should just go home. He would probably be there, I mean, where else could he go?
I rode the limousine home with Kanato, Shu, and Reiji. I couldn't stop thinking about Ayato, even though I knew I'd see him soon. I was excited, until I remembered that he's the one who ditched me. So I was planning on ways to get at him. Hehe, I'm so evil!
After dropping my purse on my bed and changing into my favorite knit sweater and chesnut-brown shorts, I went to Ayato's room.
"Ayato-kun" I said and knocked twice on his door, then paused for a moment. He would probably be super scared, as he was about to meet the girl he left waiting. I didn't want to completely shock him.
"Ayato-kun..." I repeated. Still no answer. I was a little worried, so I opened the door. Ayato wasn't there.
I see Kanato with teddy pass by down the hall.
"Hey Kanato! Hello Teddy!" I smile, trying to look cheery.
"What might you want, Yui." Kanato coldly answers, looking at me sternly in the eyes.
"Umm, I have a school project with Ayato, do you know if he's home yet"
"I haven't seen him"
"Oh, I see. Sorry to bother you" I sigh, and take a step away
"Teddy might know."
Teddy! Teddy could know?! I went along with it, I just wanted to know where Ayato is?
I bent down to Teddy's level, and asked it, I mean him
"Teddy, where is Ayato-kun"
"He says he doesn't know" Kanato answered for him
"Then why did you say Teddy might know?" I shriek. I'm so agitated at this point!
"I said 'might'. Don't blame Teddy, sheesh" Kanato complained, then walked away.
Ugh! Could he not have just said so in the first place!
I hear the main entrance door open downstairs, so I go to the top of the staircase, just peeping to see who it is. It's Ayato, looking completely disshelved with his shirt open and hair messy. Could he have...
