AN: This came to me suddenly while I was discussing another story with a friend. It then grew into something more and for the past week I've been meaning to write it down because if I didn't I think it would bother me for the longest time and I would never be able to write my book again. I do not own anything, though I wish I could, however I feel sorry for her but there is not much I can do to help.
'A lord's daughter' that was exactly who she was, though lately she felt like she was the dirt underneath her father's boot then an actual noblewoman. He couldn't even spare a glance at her unless he had to but even then it was full of disgust. In the back of her mind when she had done the act she knew exactly that this would happen. She knew it but did it anyway, because it felt right and if she could turn back time she would do it all over again. Perhaps, in the back of her mind she thought her father would be different but alas, it was just a silly thought.
However, she did not know just how long her father's distaste would last.
Izayoi was a lord's daughter but her title and worth had fallen the moment she was with child. A woman of noble birth was not to fool around with others, she was supposed to be married off and help extend her father's hold on lands, armies, money and trade. She had grown up knowing mannerisms, how to woo a noble man to her bed and was educated in trade and the working of a house. Her mother had taught her well despite the heated disagreement of her father but here she was - a beautiful educated woman who was worthless in the eyes of the nobility.
Hands reach up to scratch at the little dog ears' above her son's head and he laughed a pleasant note that made her smile. Inuyasha was the one person that kept her going through all the mess she had caused. If it weren't for him she would have let herself die a long time ago and that would greatly please her father.
Her son had miraculously reached the age of five and everyday she was still thankful to the Gods that he was still alive. There had been many times that the servants and guards had tried to kill her precious boy but was stopped by Izayoi just in time. It didn't take long for their attempts to stop but her father tried to do so himself and almost succeeded in drowning him if Izayoi's mother didn't step in.
"Mama!"
Doe brown eyes blink rapidly away her thoughts then focus on the silver haired boy in front of her. They sat on the tatami mats where the noon sun kissed their skin and the cool breeze of fresh spring brushed against them every now and again. It wasn't exactly warm quite yet but it also wasn't too cold either. Izayoi couldn't say it was in between because if the Gods thought it funny, it could be extremely cold tomorrow. So it was more of a promise that warm things were coming just not as quickly as she would like.
"Yes, Inuyasha?" She asks, tilting her head slightly to the side.
"I was talking and you weren't replying..." He frowns, crossing his arms over the oh-so-familiar red haori. "I'm sorry, I got distracted..." she replies even letting herself look sheepish. The boy releases a sigh, as though this was a common occurrence, then lifts his hand and pats her shoulder as though to take away her worries. "It's fine. It wasn't all that important anyway."
"No, no," she shakes her head, sits up straighter and focuses completely on her child. "Tell me."
And so he told her a story about how he was chasing a frog around the pond and how that same frog happened to trick him into falling on a very slick rock so that he fell into the pond and became soggy and cold. The story continued on about how he could hear the frog laughing at him and so he continued to chase it around and around until finally he caught it and banned it from the household. A delicate brow raises at that but he shrugs and says that a while later he forgave the frog and they became friends for at least for today.
"You have the strangest of stories."
"Eh, can't help it if everything around me is strange."
She nodded in agreement, because having a child was very strange indeed. Especially if it happened to be a half-demon like Inuyasha.
