Autumn to Adore
Renesmee absolutely adored Halloween.
She loved the way the world around her seemed to change, from vibrant to dark in so short an amount of time. They way the temperature dropped in such a way as to make it smell deliciously warm when the sun finally showed it's golden rays through the changing leaves.
Aunt Alice was always one to go to all extremes for any abiding occasion and Halloween, since Nessie's birthday, had always been such as well. It has always been by far her favorite Holiday. Next to Christmas, of course.
But she loved how the small cottage always smelled of fresh apple cider in the autumn, all sweet and sugary and spicy at the same time. How the forest seemed to feel so much more calm in the aftermath of it's peak season. The way everything seemed to change, and slow for the oncoming winter months.
Most of all she loved the extravagant decorations her family put up for her, all of the spidery webs and screaming, bloody heads. The orange and black candles that donned beautiful centerpieces and pumpkins.
And she loved to see her family, all smiling and laughing as they set up the lights and tombstones outside in their small field. Each saying their names and their death day (the day they turned of course, which gave everyone but Rosalie a laugh) displayed beautifully with Alice's instruction.
It was her favorite time of the year not only for decorations and costumes and fleeting seasons, oh no. It was her favorite time of year because of this, right here. Her family, all laughing and smiles because of some silly holiday that she couldn't help but adore.
Author's Note: Okay so I love autumn and Halloween too, and I have Renesmee as a certain type in my head because we don't know her in books...yet. And she loves autumn and winter. I don't know why. Reviews are love. -Delta
