A/N OK, a small ramble here, but I was listening to "The Heart Wants What It Wants" by Selena Gomez followed by "The Crow And the Butterfly" by Shinedown, and this just kinda came to me..
DISCLAIMER: I do NOT own Harry Potter, or the song "The Heart Wants What It Wants". They both belong to their respective owners.
"You got me sipping on something,
I can't compare to nothing, I've ever known;
I'm hoping, that after this fever I'll survive!
I know I'm acting a bit crazy,
strung out, a little bit hazy
Hand over heart I'm praying:
that I'm gonna make it out alive.
The bed's getting cold and you're not here
the future that we hold is so unclear
But I'm not alive until you call,
and I'll bet the odds against it all.
save your advice cuz I won't hear
You might be right but I don't care
There's a million reasons why I should give you up..
But the heart wants what it wa aa aa a aa aa ants"
It seems odd, but one of his favorite things to do when he wasn't paying attention, was to watch him. He -of course- was Ronald Billius Weasley. Most people thought that Ron and Hermione were in a relationship, but in reality, they were just really good at faking. If anyone would ask for a definite answer from either, Ron would lie and say yes; while Hermione would use misdirection to distract the querent* and lead them to another topic- without ever giving an answer. In all honesty, Ron and he had been together since the summer of the Quidditch World Cup, and that's why he took it so hard when Ron didn't believe him when he said that he didn't put his name in the Goblet of Fire.
When they had first gotten together, All he had felt was bliss; the supposed "Honeymoon phase" that every new couple goes through. But then, during Fifth year, and the whole DOM fiasco, he started noticing how instead of trying to support the other DA members and himself, Ron would slack off, or ignore his teachings completely. When asked about it, all Ron would say was "Eh, I'll do it later, promise", shrug and walk away like it was no big deal, that it didn't really matter; that Voldemort wasn't looming over them.
During Sixth year, it got worse. Harry, being the kind and caring boyfriend that he was, decided to try and help Ron with his silent casting- they had started learning it that year- (after all, it was important to know how to do at a moment's notice, maybe even under enemy fire), by launching a surprise attack starting with a silencio; when he noticed that Ron was a little busy playing tonsil hockey with -of all people- Blaise Zabini. Not wanting to start a fight -God knows that would become violent- he elected to ignore it, and hope that by sticking his head in the sand*, it would go away.
"This is a modern fairy tail
No happy endings, No wind in our sails
But I can't imagine, a life without
Breathless moments breaking me down"
Looking back, it was one of the first signs that their relationship wouldn't work out, and maybe even poison their friendship. Now, sitting on the plush scarlet and gold couch in front of the fireplace, looking towards Ron, he saw how close Ron was to Dean Thomas and it finally sunk in how Ron would never want him for 'Harry'. All Ron wanted was 'The Boy-Who-Lived' and the riches and fame that came with it. What went through his head as he curled up tighter was:
"The heart wants what it wa aa aa a aa aa ants, the heart wants what it wants."
Querent- the person asking the question
Like an ostrich, get it?
A/N: As of right now, all this is is a one shot. Maybe I'll add to it, Maybe not. It all depends on the feedback that I get, but no flames because the will be sacrificed to the evil toys called furbies. (Dang those things are scary)
