A: A Little Rendezvous
Oona, 3 years of age, was playing with her dolls when her mom told her about the 'good news'.
"Hey there, my little lotus blossom!" says her mom.
"Hi, Mommy!" says Oona.
"You know how you've been a little shy about making new friends in this new town."
"Yes?"
"Well, I found out the neighbor has a son named Avi around your age, so I got you a playdate!"
"Yay!"
The doorbell rings, and it's Avi and his mother at the door. Oona's mom opens the door.
"Hello, Lindy!" says Oona's mother as she embraces her neighbor.
"Hello, Ximena!" says Lindy. "My son, Avi, would like to play with you daughter, right?" She looks at Avi.
"Uh, huh," he says meekly, then swims towards Oona.
"Hello," says Avi, "I'm Avi."
"I'm Oona," replies Oona.
"So, what shall we do?"
"Do you wanna play with my stuffed animals?"
Avi's eyes widened with joy, for he absolutely, without a doubt, loves animals.
"Would I!"
"Yay!"
Although they didn't know it at the time, that was the start of a friendship that would last a long time.
