In Your Head

Chapter 1: Thunder

I could hear her calling… the girl was whispering my name, begging me to come to her rescue. "Quezacotl, please help! Please!" Her normally joyful voice was quivering in fright. I had just been junctioned to the girl, yet I felt a strong desire to protect her from whatever foe awaited. And so I came… to her rescue, came to save her from her enemy.

The sky throbbed as the clouds grew thick. They were not normal rain clouds, no – they were an ugly brownish color, sickening to most yet a savior to the three SeeD trainees who were underneath an unearthly Galbadian weapons' wrath, the monster they call XATM-092. The clouds churned, maddening with each second, swirling as if it were a cup of coffee that had been stirred by a spoon. The clouds were dark, yet light at the same time; the tan color of them turning green as the livid clouds grew closer and with greater intensity did they churn.

Suddenly, lightning flashed upon the enraged sky. It looked as if bright hands were caressing the clouds, and then disappearing. With every passing flash, the light grew brighter and larger – even daring to touch the ground. Still the sky swirled, accompanying the thunder in its rage; yet not a drop of rain had fallen from the sky.

Just as soon as the thunder had appeared, it left with force as a single bolt hit and riveted the ground with sheer power. Out of single strands of thunder appeared a bird. It was light green in color, it's markings in dark green and wings tipped with orange.

The thunder bird, Quezacotl, spun around in the small cloud of dust surrounding it and flared out its wings at the opponent; a machine by the name of XATM-092. Now free of any restraints, he let his fury out at the machine. He pulled his head back, thriving in the powerful grandeur of his summon. This produced a small ball of energy, spewing with lightning. It grew more powerful, attracted by the bloodthirsty beast lumbering in front of it.

The strands reached out and touched the monster, enslaving it, wrapping thin tendrils of light around its being. The machine struggled to get free, and Quezacotl only mused at the thought of it escaping his wrath. Suddenly the thunder grew; not wrapped around XATM-092 now, but forming a sphere around the Galbadian killing machine. Still the thunder bird put more of his energy into his attack, throwing his very soul into the light.

Then, all of the sudden, the light concentrated at the top of the sphere – the ball of lightning was still visible, but the mass of it was atop the circle. Pouring its energy into this blast, the lightning flew down and tore into XATM-092, sending jolts of electricity into every part of it. The machine fell as the lightning exploded, giving the three young SeeDs enough time to run back to the beach from where they arrived at Dollet.

I hope I have helped you, young Selphie. I will assist you in any journey you call me forth to. You have my faith – all of it. I am eternally in your service.

Selphie mumbled a thank you to the GF who had helped save her life. She would thank him more deeply later; she had to concentrate on getting out of here now.
