Killian Jones was drowning. He knew that.

He could feel it. The darkness, surrounding him, suffocating him. It was not new, it wasn't even a shock. It was almost as natural as embracing an old friend. But things were different now and he hadn't asked for this visit.

His Swan had done this to him, turned him into all that he hated, all that he had hunted, all he was still so desperately trying to escape. How could she do this to him? He had worked so hard, so hard to be better for her, to be better for himself and… for Liam.

With almost all his memories returned, he could see it, see so clearly what he had been missing. What had been there ever since their return. So this was to be the survivor's price.

His mistake had been exposing it. His damn curiosity. His determination to save his love.

The darkness took its time poisoning him, it was in no hurry, this was a fight they both knew he had already lost. Killian could feel himself being dragged back down into the hole that he had dug himself, the grave he thought he had escaped, destroyed and healed. it had never been anything but dormant waiting for its opportunity to seize him again.

He never wanted this, never wanted this power. He felt his anger and his frustration surge within him, him Killian Jones, not Captain Hook, not the darkness in its newest form but him, who he had been for Liam and who he had become again for Emma and it gave him hope, hope th-

It stole his anger. It was music to the voices in his head.

It burned.

It took the pain of Emma's betrayal and it forged something new.

Hello old friend. It is nice to see you again.

And so the darkness poisoned Killian Jones. It did what it always did and turned love to hate, affection to bitterness and compassion to stone. It did as it always does and won.

But what would darkness be without a little manipulation to achieve its true aims? And who should know better than a pirate…

'Are you ready to find out what else happened in Camelot?'

'Aye but first we have to take care of her.'
