This was a request from a lovely new reviewer, MisukiTheOtaku. There is a reference to Feline Fun, so it might be a good idea to read that if you haven't yet.

Disclaimer: premise for this was Misuki's idea, but the OCs are mine, and the DRRR characters obvious belong to neither of us.

Note: this is SupportVerse; it has nothing to do with Fractum Plumis. Sorry.

Tania Heiwajima woke up to a shrill ringing followed by a growl as her husband propped himself up on one elbow and reached for his cell phone.

"Please don't crush it," the teacher murmured sleepily. Shizuo grunted a wordless acknowledgement and took a steadying breath before picking up the irritating device. "Who is it?"

"It's Shinra," the bodyguard sighed. "Who else would be up this early?" Tania closed her eyes and pulled the blankets over her head; Rimiko had been having nightmares the last few nights, and her parents hadn't gotten much sleep because the little girl insisted on sleeping in their bed (they had managed to calm her down enough for her to go back to her own bed just an hour before Shinra's text woke them up), and she was a restless sleeper even when she wasn't having bad dreams. Add that to the girl's strength, and it meant Tania was debating making a stop at Shinra's apartment on her way in to work so she could shoot the damn doctor. "Ani? Shinra says he has an early birthday present for Rimiko."

"It couldn't have waited until a decent hour?" she grumbled. She was definitely going to shoot Shinra; if he'd had a decent reason for waking them up, maybe she would have cut him some slack, but as it is…

"He says it might help her sleep better," Shizuo offered, wondering if the prospect of Rimiko sleeping better would appease his wife's obvious anger toward the underground doctor. I certainly made him feel more forgiving toward his friend.

"How? I'm not going to drug her, if that's his idea of a birthday gift," Tania snapped.

"I'm sure Celty wouldn't let him try anything like that," her husband reassured her. "He says he'll drop it off in about twenty minutes."

"Twenty minutes from now is still way too early for any normal person to be awake," Tania muttered.

"I'll go wait for him, okay?" Shizuo kissed his wife's angrily-creased forehead, then slipped out of their bed and padded quietly to the living room to wait for Shinra to arrive. Tania debated following him – her heat source was leaving, which she wasn't happy about – but decided that just this one time, the prospect of a little more sleep was more enticing than the warmth of snuggling on the couch with her husband.

When Tania woke again, it was to her young daughter squealing with joy instead of the fear she'd been voicing most recently.

"Mommy! Kishitani-san brought me cats!" Rimiko exclaimed, running into Tania's bedroom, carrying two seemingly confused and irritated bundles of fur. Tania stared at the felines in her daughter's arms, then turned to Shizuo, who was standing in the doorway.

"You let him give her cats? Two of them?" the teacher said disbelievingly. Shizuo shrugged and rubbed the back of his neck a bit nervously.

"I wasn't going to agree, but then she started having a nightmare, and Shinra put the cats on her bed, and she calmed down…" he explained. Tania considered this for a moment, then nodded.

"All right. I'll have to get some food and –"

"Shinra said they're used to eating sushi, and brought a bunch of fish," Shizuo interrupted.

"Mommy, can I feed the cats?" Rimiko asked excitedly.

"Of course you can, sweetie," Tania agreed. The little girl beamed and hauled her new cats off to the kitchen to feed them.

"I don't think the black one like me," Shizuo sighed. "It kept trying to bite and scratch me, even though the brown one was fine." Tania frowned. Animals usually didn't react to Shizuo the way humans used to. Maybe the cat just didn't like men? Some animals were like that, right? "Shinra says the black one is male and the brown one is female, and he didn't know if either of them was fixed."

"He better not have stuck us with a pair of cats that'll give Rimi-chan kittens before we can get them fixed," Tania growled.

"I can take them to the vet today; Tom gave me the day off," Shizuo offered. Tania pictured her husband in a veterinary clinic with a black cat who apparently disliked him and shook her head. What if the cat bit Shizuo hard enough to make him mad?

"I'll call someone, see if we can get a vet to come to the house," she told him as she got out of bed. She had a little time before she had to go to work; maybe she could arrange it before she left. "Let's get some breakfast, okay?"

When Tania and Shizuo reached the kitchen, they saw Rimiko siting at the table, both cats perched on the table in front of her. The male appeared to be picking through the tray of sushi the girl had offered him, only eating the tuna, while the female seemed much less picky.

A black cat, male…only eating tuna…

Hadn't Tania seen something like this before? Frowning, Tania pulled out her phone, searching for the pictures Arlua had sent her a while ago, back when Celty had accidentally started a chain reaction of people turning into cats. There it was. A picture of a black cat with reddish eyes, delicately eating sushi. And the next picture…Izaya, crouched in the same spot, not having noticed he had transformed back into a human yet.

"Zuo? Um, about those cats…did Shinra say where he got them?" Because Tania had a sneaking suspicion about the identity of the black cat. Which made her wonder…the brown cat, could that be…?

Sorry, this is as much as I can manage for now, while I have chronic writer's block. Review and let me know if/how I should continue this? Also, other requests or ideas are welcome!
