Revenge of The Tempest

"Mighst I have a word with thee?"

The director of Flanagan Middle School Drama Club turned to find a horned, winged, and black-haired 12-year-old girl giving him the evil eye. "Thou art Terence Ratner?" The director nodded. "Thou doth depict my ancestors falsely! My eight-greats grandmother, Ariel, twas female! How, for Goddess sake, did she come to shown as male? As for Caliban... the only "monster" in that blasted play twas that drunken oaf, Stephano, and that foolish excuse for a jester, Trinculo!" Terence gawked at the girl. She was dressed in a plain, white tunic-top and matching pants. A small dagger hung from her belt loop.

"But, it's just a play!" Terence protested. "None of this really happened!" The girl's nostrils flared and her eyes turned into slits. When she spoke her voice was about ten degrees colder then liquid nitrogen.

"How doth thee know what tis true and what is not? Ariel twas not a male, Caliban twas not a monster, and the Lady Miranda twas no weakling. Good day to you sir." The mysterious girl turned sharply and strided away. The dagger swung murderously as she walked. Briefly, Terence wondered how his cast would react if the air sprite in his play were female.

One month after the mysterious visit William Shakespeare's The Tempest was preformed by some of the students at Flanagan Middle school. Ariel was played by a 13-year-old girl.
