A/N: This is a poem a bit out of my writing norm, but as always I'm looking for something different.

Valentine For Rin
A score of batters in my chest,
A drowning man's desire for breath,
That's how much I wanted to shout
'Twas no infatuation bout.
All these years one another we'd known,
But does he see the woman into whom I've grown?
He's older, yes, yet young and strong.
In wanting him am I wrong?
My protector, valiant guard for years,
Has seen me through both laughter and the tears.
Someday, I'd like to see that armor shed
And simply see him blithe instead.
Famine, fires, poisons, wolves,
And brigands on thundering hooves
Lord Sesshomaru warned of,
But not once the perils of love.
Now I approach the man of my intent.
Against a tree, he doubled over – bent.
Then turning, his gaze wavers just a trifle,
But it's my own gasp that I must stifle.
That lone blossom which he extends
All my words it transcends.
So this dance of actions must proceed
And softly I convey my need.
His lips are suppler than I dreamt,
The embrace assures me of no contempt.
He holds me close as I've always wished.
Could possibly anything add to this?
"Now what's that brat girl up to?"
I look – Jaken and Lord Sesshomaru?!
My lord says nothing (but is turning rather red)
And diverts his attentions to Master Jaken's head.
I've glimpsed not the expression in a while,
But there's no question of Sesshomaru's smile.
I'm left alone to tell dear Kohaku
All that's needed to be heard: I love you.

A/N: All right, who thought this was about Sesshomaru and Rin? The different part was that I've never written truly "romantic" poems or in couplets. Happy Valentine's Day!
