At first he didn't pay much mind to it. Against popular belief Akashi was only human and had his flaws.
It started at last year of high school. Kuroko was always observant person so it truly surprised him when Akashi almost tripped during one of their street basketball match, of course said red head caught himself fast and it went unnoticed by others. But that was just first mishap that Kuroko noticed.
As time went on he didn't see a lot of similar accidents, so naturally he brushed it off. But when they started sharing apartment, Akashi suggested and Kuroko didn't oppose it, was when he more of Akashi's quirks. The way he had his head tilted while reading or simple action of taking cup. There was something wrong about it, but he just couldn't put finger on it.
Well until recently that is. It took Kuroko couple days to make sure he guessed right.
"Akashi-kun, you can't see with your left eye" A sentence that left Kuroko's lips on afternoon came out as statement rather than question.
"So you noticed" Akashi's voice was barely audible. He was a man that had everything under control, but even he couldn't fight something like that.
"I have noticed change of your habits quite while ago. When did it start?" Kuroko's voice was passive. He didn't pity Akashi, no; he knew said man could take care of himself. If one were to name his emotion it would be anger.
"Mhm, it started around second year of high school I believe." Red head closed his eyes as if remembering something pleasant. Just perhaps strange wave of calm that took over his heart was because he finally said it to someone other than his father, someone he could actually trust.
"What does your doctor say?" Kuroko inquired again. He would not back down now, not when they started to talk about it. After all it's not topic that one would start at dinner table.
"My, aren't you being curious one Tetsuya." Akashi smirked looking at boy. It was suppose to be end of discussion, as taller of two started to fell bit uncomfortable, showing so much weakness. Not that he would actually say so.
Alas Kuroko was starting to feel irritated with his former captain. Honestly, it was unfair how Akashi would always be concerned about others, but never let it be other way around.
"Akashi-kun is being unfair. Please answer my question." Came ever so soft yet monotonous voice, with slight pout on Kuroko's face.
"You mustn't worry about my heath. It is fine." Akashi wasn't smirking anymore. He looked straight ahead of him with cold gaze.
"Akashi-kun-"Kuroko tried once more with strong voice only to be cut short emotionless one.
"It's permanent." He almost turned to glare at shorter boy. Almost. Akashi couldn't afford to lose Kuroko over something as petty as question about his health. By all means he knew that younger one would not discard their friendship, stay angry for while, yes, but not for ever.
Still, fight like that would take great tool on his already fragile mental health, Kuroko was one of key support pillars Akashi had. He was important to keep Akashi sane under all the pressure he receives from his father.
In the end Akashi was a fool, he should have understood that Tetsuya will figure it out, sooner or later. The boy was puzzle Akashi could never fully figure out, could never predict what Kuroko would do.
Just like now. As he was embraced by smaller male his worries just seemed to disappear, even if only for little while. Akashi slowly returned hug, letting others warmth seep into him. He closed his eyes, as corners of his lips lifted up just by tiny fraction.
Both of them enjoyed tranquility that had set in. No more words were said as none were needed. Akashi understood the meaning of sudden hug perfectly.
Kuroko will always be there for him, just as he will always be there for Kuroko.
Hello, this is my very first work that I have ever let lose on internet, I was inspired by idea of one comics (PM or review if you want link to it). By all means I do not claim anything as my own except my writing and plot cause while idea that inspired this short fic isn't mine, setting are different. I do hope you enjoyed reading this, please let me know what you think about it, I would highly appreciate it. I also apologize for any spelling or grammar errors as I was never great with it.
