What a fantastic week for Eastenders!
I will admit I was hugely disappointed at first when Bobby was revealed as the killer, however after watching the live episode, it all pieced together.
How amazing was Adam, Laurie, Ben, Eliot and Mimi on Friday? Absolutely amazing acting, especially Adam and Ben. For me, anyway! Although, I am on Team Peter, I wouldn't want to cover up my twins murder either.
Anyway, I hope you this little one shot that I had to write. It came into my head when Ian said that he couldn't find Peter anywhere, after he had ran out of the house.
Enjoy...
Peter ran until his lungs burned for air. He fell to his knees, gasping for breath as his eyes burned with unshed tears. He didn't even know where he was, held was that distraught.
It was Bobby. Bobby has done it. Killed their sister, his twin, the other half of him. He had picked up the music box and hit her with so much force, that it killed her.
Peter could feel bile rising in his throat and quickly turned his head, before spewing over the grass. He coughed before slumping over, onto his side. The wet grass felt nice against his hot skin. He breathed heavily as he tried to keep the tears at bay, but they eventually won and he let the tears out. Tears of frustration, grief and devastation finally poured out of his eyes and down cheeks, eventually rendering him to sleep as his body shut itself down from shock...
He awoke to fingers running through his hair. He groggily looked to the ground, before groaning as his eyes were stiff from crying. He was staring at a row of headstones and he realized when he had ran to when after he fled from home.
The grave-site.
He groaned again and turned his head to look up at the black night sky.
He let out the loudest scream that had ever erupted from him as he came face to face with his twin.
'What the hell?' He scrambled away from her in shock, his heart thumping wildly in his chest.
Lucy smiled slightly, amused by her twin's reaction.
'Its okay. I won't hurt you, unless you deserve it of course' she said, her long blonde hair blowing behind her in the gentle breeze.
Peter still looked horrified, but had calmed down a little as his heart rate returned to normal.
'Luce! But how?' He stuttered, looking round to find an explanation for this.
Lucy looked behind her, seeing her brothers sleeping body next to her gravestone.
'You're dreaming. Currently your body has shut down from shock, rendering you unconscious' she said, as she looked back at him, tucking a piece of hair behind her ear.
Peter nodded at her explanation, looking at her closely, wondering how she was here.
'He sent me. Thought you'd need someone to comfort you when you finally found out the truth about that night' Lucy answered his question, which Peter hadn't realized he had spoken out loud.
'He? As in...?' Peter asked, pointing upwards, making Lucy laugh and nod.
'Yes, He as in... God' she said, not missing the hurt look that appeared on her brothers face as she referred to God in first person.
'Why does it have to be like this, Luce?' Peter asked, the emotion clear in his voice.
'It just has to be. Feels like karma in a way...' Lucy admitted, making Peter frown.
'You think you died because you were doing the wrong things?' Peter asked, watching as Lucy nodded.
'Feels like it' Lucy admitted, sadly. Peter looked sadly at Lucy before remembering something.
'Jane said... She said you were writing something... Before...' Peter trailed off, not wanting to complete the sentence.
'I wrote a letter to Dad. Explaining that I was sorry for what I said earlier that night and that I was going to change' Lucy told Peter honestly.
'Were you?' Peter saw a flash of hurt cross Lucy's face as he asked her the question.
'Of course I was. I realized that I didn't want that. I didn't want to be the girl who threw away a family and friends and a job for a life of drugs! They were gone... Even though I was going to send you a text to get me-'
'Two grams of cocaine' Peter finished her sentence off for her as Lucy nodded.
'I was going to write to you one... But, I never got the chance' she admitted. Peter looked at her and sniffled, his hand slowly reaching for hers.
'What were you going to say?' He asked, his voice watery.
'That I was sorry. I'm sorry for dragging you into everything. The drugs, the argument. I never meant to make Dad say what he said that night... I was going to say that I wanted to go back to where we were before... Before the argument and the drugs... Where we still close' Lucy told him, her voice close to cracking.
'We were close' Peter told her, sniffling, as he tried to push away the stab of pain as he spoke about her in the past tense.
'Really? Before you stormed out, you looked at me with such hatred, I think it was that what made me realise... I ran after you but I couldn't find you...' Lucy revealed. Peter recoiled at the new information.
'You ran after me?' He asked, to make sure he had heard her right.
'Yeah, but you were gone by the time I got outside. I screamed your name, hoping you'd hear... But you didn't' Lucy said, looking down at the grass before looking up at her brother trough her lashes.
'Is this my fault?' Peters question made Lucy snap her head up.
'What? Why would you think that?' She asked, sounding horrified.
'If I hadn't stormed out in anger, we could've resolved it. I could've stopped Bobby doing what he did. I could've saved you!' Peter's voice cracked and he allowed some tears to fall. Lucy sniffled and crawled towards him, slowly reaching out for him.
'Come here!' She said, her own voice cracking. Peter grabbed both of her arms before pulling her to him, his arms tightening round her shoulders as he sobbed into her neck, Lucy tightening her own arms round his shoulders in comfort.
'I'm sorry!' She heard him sob. She sniffled and a few of her own tears escaped her eyes.
'Listen to me! This isn't your fault, none of it is! I died because of Bobby's actions, partly mine as well, but not yours' Lucy told him sternly. He pulled back and looked at her.
'You're my twin, the other half of me! I'm supposed to keep you safe! I failed you' Peter said, wiping away Lucy's tears.
'You didn't fail me! You're the best brother ever, don't you ever forget that!' Lucy told him firmly
'You were the best sister ever... Despite your temper!' Peter joked lightly. Lucy smiled and sat next to him, hooking her arm through his and resting her head on his shoulder.
'Mum says hi, by the way' Lucy said, causing Peter to tense.
'Mum? What does she look like?' He asked, his cheek pressing against her head.
'She looks no older than the day she died... When we go, it's like our souls freeze... We stay like this for eternity' Lucy said.
'So, when I die... I'll look like an old man?' Peter asked, sounding horrified, however it made Lucy laugh out loud, causing a grin to spread across his face.
'Nah! You'll look like you do now. Your skin and body age but your soul doesn't...' Lucy told him.
'Cool... So, which one of us look more like Mum?' Peter asked
'Me obviously! Who do you think I get my good looks from?' Lucy said cheekily, causing Peter to laugh. 'But we both have her eyes' she continued, with a smile.
'I miss you, Luce!' Peter told her, seriously, after a few minutes of comfortable silence.
'I miss you too! But I'm always with you, no matter where you are, or what your doing' Lucy told him gently, resting her chin on his shoulder.
He smiled at her and kissed her forehead.
'Thank you, for staying with me when you visited me in funeral home' Lucy whispered. Peter felt tears burn his eyes but he blinked them away.
'I wasn't there for you when Bobby did what he did, but I wasn't about to let you spend a night in there alone' Peter replied, his arm swinging round her shoulder, squeezing it gently.
Lucy hugged him again, tears suddenly leaking from her eyes.
'I don't deserve you as a brother! You deserve a better sister, who treats you with respect and so much better than I did' Lucy cried. Peter hugged her back, tightly and comfortingly.
'There's no one who would or will or could ever replace you, Luce. You are the best sister I've got and I wouldn't change anything... Well apart from the life and death thing, for the world' Peter told her honestly, his voice sounding strong.
Lucy knew better than argue with Peter when he had his mind made up. 'If I had the chance, I would have been a better sister. I would've stopped the drugs and gotten help, The arguing would have stopped, everything would have changed, I promise' she told him.
Peter smiled and nodded.
'I know... I can tell by your eyes' he told her, before her head tilted to side and she looked up, a somber look crossing her facial features.
'I've got to go' she said, the words sending panic through Peter. They climbed to their feet, but Peter gripped Lucy's wrist.
'Can't we have longer?' he asked, watching Lucy's eyes burn with unshed tears with a shake of her head.
'We can't' she said reluctantly, turning her wrist and gripping Peters with her hand.
'I need you!' he told her, emotionally.
'You'll always have me... in here' Lucy said, pressing her other hand to his heart. Peter covered it with his free hand, before pulling her in for a hug, squeezing his eyes shut.
'I never said it enough when you were here, but I love you, Luce!' Peter cried, tightening his hold her.
He never felt it when she left him...
'LUCY!' Peter awoke with a start, reaching out for her. His fingers grasped at thin air and his hand fell limply to his side. He was exhausted. All he wanted to do was go home, crawl into bed and sleep forever, but going into the house meant seeing Bobby and remembering what he did to Lucy. He sighed tiredly and began the walk back home.
He opened the back door with his key, seeing the plates and mugs that had been smashed up earlier all swept into a corner. He shut the door quietly behind him and locked it, before heading into the living room and heading quietly up the stairs. He came to a stop outside Lucy's bedroom door and smiled sadly, before heading down the hallway to his room. He pushed the door open and stepped inside, closing the door behind him, switching on the lamp on his bedside table. He stripped himself of his shirt and jeans and pulled the covers back, climbing into bed. His head hit the pillow and heard a crinkling sound.
'What?' he asked himself. He reached behind him and felt around, before gripping a piece of paper. He pulled it in front of him and unfolded it.
Love you too, big brother

Peter's breath hitched in his throat. He would recognize that writing anywhere. It was Lucy's handwriting. He realized now that she never said it back to him at the grave-site, but seeing it written, in her handwriting on a piece of paper felt so much better. Almost like a peacemaker, like she had sent him something that he needed with him, something to make him realize that he would miss her so much till the day they met again, but it was okay to slowly move on and let the pain turn to happiness by remembering her and their memories.
He smiled at the piece of paper, his finger tracing the ink etched onto it. It felt alien to him at seeing the words 'big brother', on a note written by Lucy. It was always her that was the oldest, by seven minutes and twenty-five seconds, but now it was him that was older than her. From now on, he would be older than her and it didn't seem right, but he knew in his mind that every birthday, he would always make sure Lucy was involved and celebrated, that way it gave him the piece of mind that mentally, she was growing up with him.
He looked out of the window, to the night sky, seeing the stars light up the sky, but there was one brighter than the rest, in his eyes anyway.
He placed the note on the bedside table, putting his phone on the corner of it, so it wouldn't disappear. He slid under the comforter more, feeling slightly at peace at what had happened tonight, even he was still slightly confused. A true smile grace his lips lightly as his eyes began to close.
'See you later, Lucy' he managed to whisper, before sleep overtook him.
It was never going to be goodbye between them, not with their connection, the invisible tether that tied them together no matter where they were.
It was always going to be 'see you later'...
