I've been reading a heckuvalottuva poetry lately. I've also been rereading CDF in preparation for the movie. Additionally, I've been thinking about Steve. That's where this came from. Enjoy!
Italics are excerpts from the song 'Feeling Good'. It's kind of a standard by now, but don't let that scare you: it's one badass piece of music. Personally I prefer the original by Nina Simone and Michael Bublé's jazzy version, but I think Steve (and a lot of you readers) would like the Muse cover. Go listen to all of them now.
Birds flying high…
blood on the ground, on the walls, where I tripped and fell, every one a smeary cross like a swan in flight
you know how I feel…
ripping out the tears from my eyes and the dirt from the wound and the splinters from the cross
Sun in the sky…
shining blinding burning hot as I
you know how I feel…
rage.
Leaves drifting on by…
I'm a man now, or close enough, she's dead and I don't miss a thing, I'm like the wind
you know how I feel…
tumbleweed, place to place, never looking back
It's a new dawn…
nothing stands before me, I'm the phoenix sun filling your bellies with fire and awe
It's a new day…
every day's my every night and every night is one night closer
It's a new life…
that's right, tonight, the end and the beginning, which one will be which? I want to see you smile
For me…
break me open, blow yourselves to kingdom come, nothing's ever beautiful until you see it smashed, daddy told me so
…and I'm feeling…
like a god lives in hands yours mine blood, blood on the ground, on the walls, where I tripped and fell, every one a smeary cross like a swan in flight, blood on our tongues and in our veins and in our hearts, pounding like a stake and sweet brother isn't it
…good.
A/N: What did you think? Did you like the admittedly unconventional form? Hate it? Want to compliment/flame me on my music taste? Bring it on. Make that pretty little green review button blush! If not, I'll send Steve after you... :sharpens teeth:
Oh wow. Looking back at this, I'm starting to see kind of a weird suggestive vein (pun intended). Guess I can't get away from it...
