Chapter 1
There it was again. That dark figure that kept showing up in the shadows. Bella had tried to shrug off the past two encounters with it, but this was too much. She slowed her pace as she walked along the sidewalk. She had an idea forming in her head and she was about to carry it out. Bella whipped around only to see a strand of pitch black hair, as it disappeared into the closest alleyway. She quickly ran after the stranger, but when she peered into the alley she found that nothing was there. Bella cautiously turned around and walked on, pretty shaken and wanting to get home.
That night, Bella couldn't get a bit of sleep. She tossed and turned, but her mind kept seeing that same shadowy figure. Surely to goodness it was human, she thought to herself. She figured that this thing had to be a human and was probably a girl, considering the long black hair. After much thought, she was able to drift to sleep-only two hours until morning.
Sidney was your ordinary person. She didn't do anything special physically, and she wasn't that smart either. She had dark black hair and had to wear glasses when she read books and watched TV. But, when it came to making plans, she was your girl. She could take an idea and figure out how to make it happen. If she wanted to, she could rob a bank and get away with it. This was her unique quality, but she wanted to be known for something people really cared about. She could murder someone without leaving forensic evidence, but nobody would know about it. She wanted to be the smart one, or the big basketball star. Who wants to be with the plan comer upper? No One. She still lusted after a name for herself, and the wheels were starting to turn on how she would get that.
Bella woke up, aching from her sleepless night. She got out of bed and got dressed for the day ahead. This is going to be a long day, she thought. Bella went downstairs and fixed some pancakes with strawberry syrup. She was just about to go see about Edward when she noticed a scuff mark on the floor. She looked at it closer and discovered that their was a faint shoe print beside it. Edward came up beside Bella and said, "What are you looking at?" "I'm looking at this mark," she replied, " Would you know what it is?" Edward studied the print and said sternly, "It looks like we have had an unwelcome visitor."
Bella gasped and suddenly formed the figure in her head. Edward looked up and said, "Why are you so frightened?" He got up off the floor and hugged her. "I will never let anything hurt you, and you know that." Bella felt a little better with that statement, but what if she was alone? How was she going to defend herself from an intruder? All this was racing through Bella's head, when Edward grabbed her and she heard the "WOOSH" of a soaring knife, passing inches from her face.
Author's Note: Thank you all for reading the first chapter in this series. I would really like some reviews so I know how to improve my writing. If everyone tells me this chapter is horrible, I'll just drop the series. Thanks again for reading and please vote on my poll.
