Assassin's Creed: Final Hour
"You're leaving today, Altair?" Malich was surprised at the readiness of his brother-in-arms to depart Masyaf. "Yes," Altair was wrapping up his face for prodection from the sun, "And I am leaving at this hour." Raul walked into the room, "What use would there be in running, except leaving us undefended?" Altair shook his head, "I am a target for the Templars; according to Al Mualim's words, they are looking for the Piece of Eden, so I am saving you all."
The sun was setting in the sky, getting closer to dusk as the seconds passed, but for Altair, time seemed to stop as he prepared himself for his journey. He had food for a week, a new identity, and the wrath of the Templars heavy on his back. He had no horse, and the walk to the nearest city was far, but he was determined to go. Where he would go -- east, into Asia, west, into Europe, south towards Africa -- he did not know. He braced himself, and then set up a meeting with the others.
"My brothers," Altair began, "You have no doubt heard of my plans on leaving. I am a target, and I beg all of you not to follow me. With my walking, I bear a curse that will not stay in Masyaf's walls, and will still make an imprint, years after I die. I simply ask you all, whenever you hear of my death, find the Piece of Eden, and return it to these walls, because it will be safe among you all."
"If harm should befall you all, it will be of my own accord, but not with my intention." At this sentence, Altair walked out from Masyaf, and across the desert. "We owe this man our lives," said Malich, as Altair walked away, "And for generations, we will keep his memory alive. And we should all know that this man has set an example. Not just as an assassin, but as a human being. We shall remember!"
As cheers were uttered behind him, Altair simply kept up his step, outside of the gate and past the village, until he was simply a speck on the horizon. And after just a few more seconds, that spec dissapeared from sight.
