OKAY! Let's try this again! I HATE MY COMPUTER! Microsoft was being an ass, so I'm posting these Silent Hill fanfics out of order, kay? Oh, and this one is right before Silent Hill 3, about…three years before? Yeah, that works. And only Tomi and Alan belong to me. The two new monsters belong to andoof3476 and PrettyGirlSailorMoon on YouTube. The second monster is altered a bit…

Also, if there is a character that is acting OOC-ish, please tell me! And remember, no smoking' and no flash photography.

On the Brink of Sanity

Prologue

The church's walls seemed overwhelmingly powerful in this realm. They stretched before a woman in a taunting way. The woman put a strand of silver-blonde hair behind her ear. She narrowed her eyes. She tapped her foot, her flowing, black dress quivering with her every move. She crossed her arms, turned to an alter, and prayed for patience. In the middle of her prayer, the church door opened. The woman sighed and turned to a smug man.

"Vincent," the woman said, her voice dripping with anger and annoyance, "you're late."

"Am I? Vincent answered, pushing his glasses higher on the bridge of his nose. The woman rolled her eyes. Vincent continued, "I ran into some trouble. That's all. I was busy."

"What could be more important than this?" the woman snapped. Vincent smiled. She was not much younger than him, but she was still naïve.

"You're right," Vincent's smirk was unwavering, "I'm sorry"

The woman gave an inward groan and turned back to the alter, praying for something different. Praying for Salvation. Afterwards, there was a moment of silence. Vincent's eyes wandered to a church window.

"Have you discovered anything?" the woman did not turn to Vincent, her eyes were still closed.

"We may have something," Vincent murmured, not taking his eyes off the window.

"'Something'?" the woman urged on, one eye open.

"A…young lady. About to visit the town. To take photos. She was 'drawn' to it…"

Silence.

"We're not sure, entirely, but…it's a lead…"

Silence.

"Claudia?"

Claudia spun around and faced Vincent. He did not flinch at all. She tried to scare him often, but it did not work, he was not afraid of her.

"A 'LEAD'!" she snapped. "I ask for one person! ONE! And you bring me a 'LEAD'!" Claudia's faintly British voice reverberated off the church walls. The whole building seemed to tremble. Vincent's smile faded to a frown, his eyebrows lowered.

"And what are YOU doing to help?" he accused, pointing at her, angrily. "That's right, Nothing! You order us around like…like you're GOD." Claudia's face grew an angry bright red.

"I'm…praying," her voice was calmer than before, but it stretched out these words in an angry way.

"Thanks for the help," Vincent answered in his usual sarcastic tone. He shook his head and began to leave.

"Wait, Vincent," Claudia called. Vincent paused. "Go to the girl. See if she is the one. The one who will birth a god."

"Whatever you say," Vincent smirked, "your HIGHNESS." And he walked out, his smirk unwavering.

Claudia turned back to the alter and added, "And remember where you are…" Her mouth formed the words carefully, fearfully, "Silent Hill."
