Disclaimer: Stephenie Meyer owns the amazing characters you would read in this story. And unfortunately, I'm not making any money off of this. If I did, I would certainly purchase the Twilight DVD in Target that I'm desiring for the past day.

The Decision

***

"Jacob?" Nessie called with her honey voice, hugging Jacob's legs since it was the only thing she can reach. She was such a tiny thing, probably because she was still physically three years old. "Why is Aunt Leah here?"

Jacob cocked her brow at me and knelt beside her, carrying her with his big arms. He gave her a playful smile and muffled her bronze curls, making her giggle. "I don't know." He shrugged his broad shoulders. "Guess we'll find out."

"What do you mean we'll?" I interrupted immediately, grimacing when the rotten stink intensified. "Jacob, I said I need to talk to you alone."

"But-"

All of a sudden the mind-reader leech popped out of nowhere, smiling at Nessie like a proud father. I fought myself not to plunge my nose as the icy smell hit me full force. God, he stinks.

I saw him smirk at the corner of my eye and it took all of my willpower not to rip his throat out while popping his eyes out of his sockets. I now see where Jacob is coming from. Edweirdo was even more annoying than Seth's chainsaw snoring in the night.

It feels so weird being in the Cullen's house. I feel like someone would kill me any moment if I even let my guard down for a second. I don't know how Seth and Jacob—even Quil and Embry—manage to just stroll around here as if the leeches and we the "shifters" were old buddies.

Edward decided to cut off my thoughts, looking annoyed. Can't say I blame him. Sometimes I can't even stand my own self.

"Jake, Leah has something important to tell you. Renesmee can certainly wait." He took a sideway glance at her precious half-breed. "Can you honey?"

Nessie pouted and looked like she would disagree, but after a moment of thinking, she nodded sadly and encouraged him to go on. The kid always wanted to please everybody even though it was against her wishes. So much like Bella.

I nodded thankfully and pulled Jacob towards the doorway, dragging him towards the river. Once we reached the rushing water current—after Jacob's continuous protesting growls—I let go of his hand quickly as if it burned mine.

I sat on the boulder that perched besides the river and watched the sun set, firing the sky with its variety of colors. Jacob was behind me, unmoving.

I wounded my arms around my knees and listened to the flow of the river.

"Jacob, do you remember my plan?" I asked casually, my eyes still glued on rushing blue water.

I heard Jacob sigh and his big footsteps got instantly closer. He sat on the grass beside me and cocked his head to one side. "Leah, what is this about?"

"Remember the day when I told you that I would move away from here? The day I told you that I would rebuild my life? When I said that I would go find a job some place around the world and try to finish college? Well-"

"Just spit it out, Leah." Jacob grunted.

I took a deep breath, my nerves jittering. "Well I figured out that this would be the right time to complete that plan." I announced bluntly. "I'm going to Colorado in Atwood. I have an Aunt there-"

"Wait, your Aunt?"

"Yep." I nodded. "She offered me a place to stay there and once I got my budget in control, I would move away and start with my own. Hopefully, I would also find a job that pays well so that I could quickly start with the college stuff."

"And you need my permission because…?"

"Jacob," I sighed, "you're such an idiot. Of course I would need your permission; you're my Alpha for god's sake! I couldn't move away from here without your agreement."

Jacob shrugged. "If that's what you want-"

"No, it's what I need, Jacob."

"Then it's settled then." He clasped his hands and grinned at me warmly as if he was happy for my decision. A part of my being wondered if he really does sincerely care about me. That would be certainly a first. But despite all my pointless insecurities, I know he was joyful for my effort to move on and live again. Stupid as he is sometimes, he really was a great Alpha, willing to grant our wishes without a second thought. "Just promise me that you won't blow out of your skin when some guy pisses you off. Or if a girl gets on your nerves. God if you do that, I would be the first one to drag you out of Colorado and order you to stay in the oh so rainy place of La Push."

I rolled my eyes as he smiled. Lightly teasing.

"Good lord," I sighed dramatically, "I wonder how Renesmee would put up with your small brain in the future years. The poor girl has a lot of burden to come." I sniffed and placed my palm on my heart. "I'll pray for her."

"Ha ha. Really funny, Leah." He rolled his eyes. "I know Nessie would be honored to have me in her life. Hell, you're honored to have me in your life."

"Suuuure I am," I replied sarcastically. "And I certainly don't have an Alpha that has a maturity level of a three year old." I snided. "Even the freaky child is smarter than you. Must be an ego-booster."

He offered me a sly smile and I knew he was up to something nasty.

He tsked. "Wrong move, Leah. Must keep your mouth shut sometimes. You'll pay for that." He warned in a low voice with that same freaky smile.

"Are you-"

I didn't get to finish my sentence as Jacob pushed my back and the impact caused me to fall off the boulder. The cold water splashed my body suddenly and I screeched, all wet. I swam desperately to the side, towards the grass-laden soil to avoid being carried away through the currents.

My hair dripped and my eyes blurred with water. Damn.

I growled, huffing for breath, as I watched Jacob laughing hysterically, walking slowly away from me. Taunting.

About ten feet away, he was pointing towards me in mockery, laughing all over again.
"Leah," his face was all innocence, "what did you say again? Seems to me that your immature, little Alpha has the awesome last laugh." And just to prove his point, he cackled with an evil, shrill tone.

I glared and spoke in a deadly tone and wiped the water out of my eyes. "You're dead, Jacob Black."

He shrugged his shoulders, confident. "Sure-"

Fast as a blur, I jumped out of the river and began sprinting towards him, my fists clenched—a boxer's stance.

Jacob's eyes widened and suddenly sprinted towards the Cullen's mansion, his feet bolting with energy.

I sprinted towards him, matching his energy as my wet hair plastered on my wet face. "You would pay for that, you big freak." I hissed, forcing my legs to run even faster. "Prepare to die!"

Jacob laughed even more, furthering our distance with his longer strides. I knew I couldn't catch him; my body was practically dragged down by the weight of the cold water. That fact pissed me off even more. "Leah," he shouted over the distance, tsking again, "catch me if you can. That's the catch though: If. You. Can…" And with that, his speed increased even further.

"Watch me." I shouted back, hissing.
