'Oi, Maka…'

'Eh?'

'I think I have a good idea who your new boyfriend is.'

She smirked. 'I bet you don't.'

'I bet I do.'

'What makes you so sure?'

Soul pointed to her neck. 'You have symmetrical hickeys.'

The reaction was instantaneous. Her hands flew to her neck, dropping the book she'd been reading on the table, pages fluttering, and her face positively glowed with embarrassment.

'I-I'm sure I don't know what you mean by that,' She attempted, flushing still deeper with the lie.

'Right.' Soul grinned, but dropped the matter. Maka's blush cooled somewhat in the following minutes as she managed to lose herself once again in the book.

'Hey, Maka, did someone try to strangle you?'

'…what?'

'Well, you have those weird bruises on either side of your neck and I thought-'

'It's nothing oh gosh look at the time I really must get going nice talking to you Black Star.'

'Maka, did you get bitten by a really forgetful vampire or something?'

'Umm.'

'Maka, you overdid it with the attention-getting makeup this morning.'

'Shut up.'

'Maka, those marks on your neck remind me of someone, but I can't remember who.'

'Must be genetic memory or something.'

'Hey Maka, I just realized you're totally symmetrical! Like, even your h-'

'I'm aware.'

'Hey Maka, I think that new boyfriend of yours might have a bit of a mania if you get my me-'

'I AM NOT SLEEPING WITH DEATH THE KID!'

The blonde's face twisted into the hardest facial expression to describe that there could possibly be.

'…I didn't even say it yet.'

Maka bit her lip. (And she clearly wasn't the first, so to speak.) She had already flushed strawberry red- and not those big strawberries you get at the grocery store, either, wild strawberries.

Liz smiled… and her smile went beyond a smirk. It went beyond a malevolent grin. 'I get it, you're not technically sleeping with him…'

The ash-brunette nodded fiercely. Beads of blood were forming on her lower lip.

'…Because it's not like either of you ever actually get any sleep…' Liz drawled.

'Hey, Kid, your new girlfriend has a nice scream. Pleasant hints of 'Dear God, why are you doing this to me.''

'No, Liz, I think that was actually what she was screaming.'

I like teasing people, but I'm too nice to do it in real life. Does it show?
