Greetings children of the corn! I's is pleased you's is here! Welcome to my new story. This is kind of based off of a couple stories I've read, including ThisisLife by BookHunter. R&R suckers, for I's is liking this idea.

He wakes up to tears. Loud, sobbing tears. And the howl that follows a strike.

He shifts himself upright, looking through the bars of his cage at the matted blond hair beside him.

He talks for the first time in months. "Who are you? Why are you here?"

The hair moves, and parts to reveal brown eyes, fresh with tears. "I don't know. My parents died, I went to the orphanage, and then a lady brought me here."

He nods. "My parents are dead too. I got here the same way."

She gives him a small smile. "I like you. What's your name?"

He hangs his head in disgrace. "I don't have one."

"Neither do I. What if we name ourselves?"

He nods. "I'll be Fang. It's a cool name. I heard it in a book. What will your name be?"

She grins. "What I always wanted to be named. Maximum."

She grabs his hand through the bars, and they smile at each other, knowing nothing can break this so-called bond called friendship.

I wake with a start. I had the dream again. I look over at my sister, Brenda, and crawl out of bed as silently as possible. She still catches me.

"Gemma. I know you're awake. Did you have the boy dream again?"

I nod. Only I know the truth. These aren't dreams from my subconscious. These are dreams from the innermost folds of my memory.

I have to find this Fang. And rediscover Maximum. Maybe then the love can re-alight.

They hug each other as best they can. He just had another shot, and the wings hurt.

"You'll be fine. At least it wasn't your turn to run the course. That was me." He sees the burns. He decides to never cry again. That will only make the wolf-men angry.

He looks her in the eye, black against brown, and promises the impossible.

"On my love for you, I swear to break you out of here. I will get you your freedom, no matter what the cost."

I wake to the sound of Papa yelling. "Jacob! They're back! Get your spear, and be ready!"

The flock is in danger. If they steal the sheep, our lively-hood is gone. I grab the wooden pole and run out.

But first, I clear my mind of the girl I called Maximum. Of my promise that I never kept. Of how I let her disappear. Was she alive? Someday, I will find out. But for now, Fang must stay in the back of my mind, and I must put my fighting skills at the front. Here I go...

THE DRAMA! THE CHANGES! THE FAXNESS! I know M. will hate this chapter, but Fang and Max are in love, so who am I to mess with it? I just write the facts. That is all.
