Her long red hair twisted and sprang to life in ways defying gravity. She shook it back and smiled to herself, her emerald eyes shinning, as she pulled a book from its shelf.

He gathered his courage, swept his dark hair out of his eyes and stepped closer. Letting his eyes find his target, he still pretended to be interested with the ancient book of house cleaning spells that he was holding. He stepped closer still.

"So, have you ever been hit on in the Library before?" asked James Potter, trying to imitate his friend's seductive voice.

"Shove off, Potter." Replied Lily Evans, the woman of James' desire, without so much as glancing his way. "And if you were trying to impress me by sounding like Black, than you are even more desperate than I thought!" And without another word, she stalked out of the Library not once looking back.

As James stood there, admiring Lily's retreating form, he half expected to see Padfoot and Moony tumbling from behind one of the nearest bookshelves, laughing their heads off. After a moment of silence, in which nothing of the sort happened, he grinned to himself and couldn't help thinking, This will be one hell of a year!

The first thing James remembered when he woke up the next morning, was how terrible things had gone over in the Library the day before. Groaning to himself, he climbed out of bed and ran to the shower.

Once he was dressed, he approached his roommate's four-poster and, yanking back the hangings, announced "Padfoot, I'm heading back to the Library. I'll be there all day if you need me." Not waiting for a response, he turned to leave.

Sirius, who had been waiting for the opportune moment, called out " Hey Prongs? You ever been hit on in the Library before?" before he collapsed into a fit of bark-like laughter. He rolled out of bed, hitting his head on Wormtail's nightstand, waking up the tiered werewolf in the bed across the room. James kept walking, leaving the noise behind him. He wasn't that surprised that Sirius had found out about yesterday, after all, he was a Merauder!
