Echo hadn't seen it coming. She didn't expect to fall in love, especially not with her. But it was love, and this is the tale of how it happened.

The cafe was nearly empty in the dim light of a late Cybertronian evening. A royal purple painted femme was sipping an energon frappe in a corner, wanting to interact with someone but everyone seemed busy. Life in the Decepticon capital, Kaon, wasn't what you'd call peaceful, but it was her life. Up until recently Echo had lived with her adopted father, Shockwave, who had been assigned to her after Megatron had ordered her parents to give up either her or her twin. Echo didn't understand why it happened, Shockwave never told her, but she had grown to hate the evil Warlord, even if she did respect his political views and ideals.

Echo jumped when she heard the bell of the door opening chime, signalling another patron entering. It was a short, light aquatic blue femme. Her frame was more on the chubby side, but her beautiful figure made up for it. She had a mask over her mouth and, last but certainly not least, she had had the largest, prettiest sea green optics Echo had ever seen. Echo watched as the femme took a seat not too far from her, pulling out a datapad and tapping at it purposefully. Echo observed her, wondering what had her so attracted to this one femme. Was it the way she sipped her energon? Was it how she smiled every once and awhile at whatever was on her datapad? Echo didn't know, but if she had to know anything she wanted to know the femme's name.

Echo stood up and walked toward the femme, hips swaying from side to side. She cleared her throat to get her attention before she held out her servo and said, "Hi, my name's Echo! What's your's?"

The femme shook her servo but didn't say anything, rather she put a servo to her throat and shook her helm.

"I don't understand..." Echo said, cocking her helm to the side in confusion.

The femme tapped at her datapad, then turned it toward Echo to show her. It said «So sorry, but I am a mute. My name is Whalesong and I am pleased to meet you! :)»

Echo smiled at her. "Pleased to meet you as well Whalesong! Mind if I sit here?"

Whalesong shook her helm and gestured to the seat across from her as if saying "Go right ahead".

Echo sat down, hands in her lap. Why was she nervous? She just wanted to be friends with this femme, and echo was never nervous around people, especially potential friends. The purple femme took a deep breath before she said, "So what brings you to this place? I frequent this place and I've never seen you, here."

whalesong taps at her datapad before turning it towards Echo. «I just moved in nearby»

The two femmes then begin talking about how whalesong grew up. As it turns out the poor thing's parents died when she was very young, so she was raised by her older brother. They also talk about echos past; how her parents chose her twin over her so she was raised by Shockwave. They talked for hours until the owner told then it was closing time, so they decided to continue their conversation at Whalesong's new house.

Sitting in Whalesong's living room, which is filled with unopened moving boxes, the femmes continue their conversation. They laughed and giggled and had just the most fun one could have in the dull decepticon capital.

Echo looked up at Whalesong and smiled. "I've had fun, but I should probably go."

Whalesong taps at her datapad, «Can I see you again?»

Echo nods. "Of course! Here," she taps her address and saves it onto Whalesong's datapad, "Meet me at my house at noon tomorrow. See ya then!" She leaves, but not without giving Whalesong a hug and a loving kiss on the cheek.
