My attempts poetry require a lot of work; rhythm completely eludes me, rhyme mocks me and I'm fairly sure that I fail to avoid horrible poetry cliches, but this was fun to write all the same. Spoilers for season II of the anime.

Disclaimer: Kuroshitsuji does not belong to me, sadly.

Mist in the Fog

You're naught but mist in the fog, dear,

Your truths a crumbling lie,

Exquisite loathing at being yours, dear,

Sweet excruciation at being mine.

You strove to be a rose amongst weeds, dear,

Your briars surged to smother their stems,

But the bramble pricked sharper and faster,

And nettles don't choke in the end.

You kissed a million stars, dear,

Your lips stained each of them black,

Your breath clouded over the sky, dear,

No rain can change it back.

You lost yourself in the yews, dear,

Let the devils draw you near,

No coaxing or twisting or sighs, dear,

Will ever free you from here.

A galaxy is in the palm of your hand, dear,

A million, screaming lost souls,

Bend them and break them and then, dear,

Feel the earth growing, slowly, old.

Eternity is merely a lifetime,

Hours will pass by like years,

The end of all will come, dear,

But you will still be here,

At the edge of a rotting world, dear,

Where time falls into decay,

And where else but beside you, dear?

There I'll be and there to stay.
