Poem of Betrayal
I met you in the courtyard,
that blasted fateful day.
Knowing what I now know now,
I wished I'd turned away.
x - x
You were a hard-assed rebel,
your attitude it sucked.
Your exterior made of steel and iron,
I knew then, I was fucked.
x - x
As time went by, we became close friends,
I got to know you better.
You even told me about your ex,
thank God I'd never met her.
x - x
I put my trust and faith in you,
I thought you'd never break it.
Then along came your ex spewing hate and lies,
and that was enough to shake it.
x - x
ou should have heeded my warning and advice,
but you flat out refused to hear.
You should have listened, I warned you twice,
and now I'm left in tears.
x - x
I have to admit, she's a damn good actress,
her lies and deceite burning in her eyes.
Her strength: manipulation, she manipulated you good,
you didn't wanna listen, you cut off our ties.
x - x
I thought our friendship actually meant something to you,
you left me with no support, told me to stay away.
I tried to help, yes it's true,
But it soon became clear; I was nothing to you.
x - x
She lied, she cried, she pleaded and begged,
there was nothing she wouldn't do.
With my friends all against me apart from a few,
we were the only one's that really knew.
x - x
You spewed out words of hate at me when I did nothing wrong,
you told me to get out of your life, that you hated me.
You tried to apologize but it's just the same old song.
x - x
My last remaining friends and I, we formed our own little plan,
to trick her into revealing everything, it was all up in place.
And reveal she did to everyone, you realized your big mistake.
x - x
My trust for you, it shattered and broke,
there's nothing you can do.
I loved you once but that was a mistake,
I wish I never knew.
x - x
So beware your words, they cut real deep,
the price of betrayal too much of a cost.
I hope when your thoughts turn to me,
you think of what you've lost.
