The Last Dance

Matt was on a roll. He had finally gotten past the snow world in Pac-Man World 2. He decided that his eyes deserved a break, so he meandered down the hallway towards that kitchen he and Mello shared.

Have you ever smoked a big fat Cuban cigar?

'Wait, What?' Matt thought as he froze in his tracks in front of their room, craning his neck around to hear more of the strange music wafting out of it. Since the door was already strangely cracked open, Matt just opened it a little more to see inside.

Have you ever hitched a ride on a shooting star?

He couldn't believe what he was seeing. Mello was in the middle of the room, hips swaying hypnotically to the beat; His arms moving back and forth and hands intertwining in his hair while his feet shuffled from one foot to the other. He moved gracefully like a professional during a choreographed routine and yet at the same time he looked as though he was making it all up on the spot, which he probably was. Matt was awestruck. Who knew Mello could move like that? He sure didn't.

Have you ever seen red when it should have been yellow?

Matt proceeded to open the door the rest of the way open and thankfully, the door didn't make a sound as Mello continued dancing, unaware that Matt was even in the room.

Whoa oh, have you ever been mellow?

Matt laughed as he heard the lyrics and approached Mello who didn't seem at all surprised to hear Matt's chuckle.

"Did you know I was watching?"

"Yeah, I heard your game stop and played some music of my own," Mello stated as he turned around to meet him.

"…Well then, will you dance with me?" Matt asked with a mock bow as he held out his hand. Mello seemed a little taken back at his question but took Matt's hand anyway.

Have you ever seen a day that turns into night?

They danced slowly together; arms holding, hands caressing, and eyes roaming. Soon they were ignoring the music altogether. They were just enjoying the moment, hoping that it didn't have to end.

Have you ever been wrong when you should have been right?

Matt held Mello closer to him, wishing that he wouldn't have to let him go but knowing that tomorrow would be the biggest mission of their lives, as well as the last.

"Matt, I am not going to let you die tomorrow…I will find a way to save you,"

Matt knew that there was no way that either of them could be saved at this point, they were in too deep and he was sure Mello knew that as well.

Have you ever been said you're a jolly good fellow?

"It doesn't matter, as long as I am with you till then, I will be happy. Now cheer up, this is a happy song," Matt smiled that goofy, crooked grin that Mello loved so much. Mello nodded and leaned in for a light kiss. They remained kissing as they continued dancing slowly to the upbeat song. They realized that no matter what happened, as long as they were together (in body or in heart) everything would be fine.
