Disclaimer: Harry Potter belongs to the lovely JK Rowling, not me.
Summary: He wanted her. He did everything he could to be near her. His need was almost a physical pain, his heart beating in his throat. Drabble.
A/N: A companion to Jealousy, but there's no reason it can't be read alone. During HBP.
Desire
He noticed her during the summer.
Her beautiful eyes, and how they twinkled when she smiled. How her silky red hair flew out behind her when she ran or flew. Her creamy skin, and the contrast of the freckles across her nose.
He wanted her. He wanted to hold her close, run his fingers through her hair, kiss her…
His longing formed a growing knot within his stomach, and whenever she got near he would stutter and blush and she would laugh. Her laugh could be a giggle, high and tinkly, or full-throated and real.
He knew these things, because ever since school started, he had observed her. When he realized that even though he would be mostly separated from her during school, he wanted to be with her, he knew he had a major case of obsession.
He memorized everything about her physical and otherwise. He did everything he could to be near her, to hear her voice, to smell the fragrance of her hair. It was rather like stalking, except she knew about it, and she accepted it.
His longing increase, until he knew he had to be with her. It was almost a physical pain, his heart beating in his throat.
And then, when he kissed her, she kissed him back, and it was all worth it.
