Not Going Anywhere
Ginny found herself, covered in tinsel, in Ron and Hermione's sitting room the Christmas of 2000. Hermione was sitting next to her in the middle of the couch - while Ron and Harry had gone to the kitchen to prepare tea. On the sofa across from the two women sat none other than Draco Malfoy. He sat very stiffly on the edge of the sofa - as though he was trying to looked composed but was also ready to make a quick get away if necessary. The atmosphere in the room was extremely awkward, and Ginny was very uncomfortable. She didn't know how to start a conversation with Malfoy that didn't involve calling him a loathsome prat. Luckily just as the awkwardness was getting to an unbearable amount Harry and Ron walked back into the room. Ron placed the tea tray down on the small table between the two couches then sat down on the other side of Hermione. Harry taking the remaining spot on the love seat next to Draco. Ginny wished she weren't here - she didn't know where to look. She was also choosing to keep her mouth tight shut because all the things she wanted to say at the moment were rather rude. Harry put his arm around Draco, the blonde looked at him and his posture relaxed a bit. Harry leaned in to give him a kiss. Ginny quickly averted her eyes. She had gotten over Harry long ago but it was still awkward seeing him kiss someone else - especially as it was Malfoy. She looked back after hearing the quick smack of their lips and saw Harry beaming as Draco turned slightly pink.
"Ugh gross! Save that for your own place mate!" Ron said in a revolted tone. Ginny couldn't help but smirk, as she silently agreed with Ron's exclamation. As Hermione reprimanded him for being tactless - Ginny noticed Harry's disappointed frown and that Draco had gone even more pink. Their breakup had been very neutral, and despite her discomfort with Harry being with Malfoy, she felt slightly bad at the look on Harry's face. She still cared for him, in a weird detached way. Ginny knew she would never get used to seeing Harry holding hands with someone he had once despised so much (and she still despised just as much). She couldn't deny, however, that they obviously were enamored with each other. She sighed. Deciding for Harry's sake to make an effort. They all might as well get used to having Malfoy around, as he obviously wasn't going anywhere.
