Castle/Beckett, no spoilers, nothing explicit, 200 words. Enjoy!

Nearly every time he showed up at her door was unexpected, but tonight was particularly unexpected. On none of the previous occasions when he came by unannounced did he bring along a tree – an actual, formerly living pine tree.

"Castle, what are doing?"

"It's Christmas, you need a Christmas tree."

"I have a tree."

"What, that little thing?" He gestured to the ceramic, light up tree on the side table. "That is not a Christmas tree."

"I still don't see why I need a tree, no one's going to see it."

"You will. Besides, I can't fit your present under the one you have."

She rolled her eyes, but stepped aside to let him in. Still skeptical, she watched with an amused smirk as he walked around the apartment with it, trying to find the best place to put it.

"So Castle… what exactly are we decorating this tree with? As you may have noticed, my current tree requires no ornaments, so I don't exactly keep a box of them around."

He groaned. "I knew I forgot something! Oh well, we can fix that. Get your coat."

She hesitated for a minute before speaking. "You're buying."

"Anything for you, Kate."
