AN: This is a one-shot based off of a fanfiction I think I might begin to write. The fanfiction will only happen if this one turns out okay. This is a one-shot about Lily and Sirius getting competitive in a Potions class. This is set in fourth or fifth year, maruaderers period.
This is my first fanfiction on this account. Tell me what you think in the reviews!
Competition.
Lily looked over at a smirking Sirius. She sighed internally; he's the only competition I've got she thought. Her partner, Severus Snape was exceptional at potions; as was Sirius Black. Remus Lupin, however was good, but didn't possess the brilliance Lily, Sev and Sirius did. This was the only advantage Lily had.
She and Severus began to brew the potion. Sirius knew that Lily was stressing out over this assignment, there was always competition between the two, and snivelous. He knew that lily cared about her grades, and he didn't care about his. He also knew that if he simply tried, he could beat her in this one. He and Remus added a powdery substance to their mixture, and stirred until it became a lurid green.
'Pass me the crushed beetles please.' Lily asked Severus. Sev was also determined to beat Black. Who was to finish first? The two couples carried on quietly with their work, Lily giving Sirius dirty looks and receiving smirks back every now and again. Sirius Black was feeling lucky, maybe Marlene would meet him in a broom cupboard later, or maybe he would get the potion finished first.
Sirius was hoping for both. 'Moony, pass us the dragonfly wings'. Remus did so, 'why did you ask me to be your partner and not James?' he asked. 'well, let's just say me and Evans have got a bit of friendly competition going on, I really need to finish this before her, and all me and prongs do is mess about'. Lupin sniggered, 'friendly, my arse' he said.
Luck must have also been on Lily's side, her potion was going marvellously well. She noticed that Sirius also was finding the task a breeze and took advantage of Sirius' laid-back attitude. She hurried Severus along in the process and quite soon she was finished. Lily quickly put a sample of her potion in a vial and looked up.
At the foot of Professor Slughorn's desk stood a one Sirius Black. He had won, this time at least. Lily didn't give up there though; she did her best 'anger-march' up to the desk and shouted 'I'm finished!' at the teacher. Sirius, noticing Lily's presence, turned with a sly grin on his face. Snorting, lily raised her eyebrows, acting like she didn't care, 'you win this time Black, for the first and the last time'.
'Slow and steady wins the race, eh Evans?'
