Ten Thousand Blessings and Beauty

The cool November air on her heated skin gave Kagome a small special comfort, her body tired from the exertion she had just gone through. She thanked the gods for the day that she had asked Inuyasha to add in a window on their small hut that was not far from their favorite tree.

Beside her, on his knees with his back hunched over the child that lay in his arms, was said husband and mate. His canine ears twitched ever so slightly, making sure to capture every little sound his daughter made. From what she could see from where she lay, his eyes were wide and a small gentle smile was on his usually scruff face. He touched his daughter's cheek lightly with his knuckles, making the baby hanyou snuggle into him.

Taking in a deep breath, Kagome sighed peacefully, "She's beautiful."

He nodded in agreement as he took his daughter's dog ears between his fingers, rubbing ever so gently. "What're we going to name her?" Inuyasha asked quietly, his eyes not leaving the child's slumbering face.

The new mother closed her tired eyes as she whispered, "Maemi;" a peaceful smile on her face.

He laughed softly and looked at her for the first time since their daughter was put in his arms. "Maemi…" he said, almost as if testing it on his tongue. "It's perfect."

If you didn't happen to catch it, Maemi means Ten Thousand Blessings and Beauty. This is extremely short, I know, but I just thought it already ended so perfectly.
