She's pregnant. She. Is. Pregnant.
That was the only thought Barry could get through his head that morning. He was happy. I mean really really happy, but this was uncharted territory. During the particle accelerator explosion, Barry's DNA had been altered which meant that this kid had the speed force running through its veins. As cool as it would be to have a real kid flash (sorry Wally!), it would be extremely difficult to raise a speedster from birth. Only Barry, Wally or Jesse could really look after this kid, Iris certainly couldn't chase them down.
'Maybe we could get Jesse to come back from Earth-2 to babysit.' Barry thought. But before they could worry about babysitting, they had to focus on Iris's health. She couldn't visit a real OBGYN as the speed of her child would surely confuse them, so, for now, she would have to visit Caitlin at S.T.A.R. Labs insteth ad, which was exactly where Barry was heading.
"Everything looks fine so far." Barry heard Caitlin say as he speed into the cortex.
"That's a relief!" Barry sighed. Iris glared at him, "What?"
"You're late." She said.
"Sorry babe" Barry frowned and kissed her forehead.
"It's ok." She replied, "I'll live." And although that was meant to reassure Barry that she wasn't mad, it instead sent him into a new spiral of worries.
'What if she dies in childbirth?' He thought. 'What if I lose them both? I don't think I could handle losing Iris again, seeing her die in a potential future timeline was more than enough heartbreak.' He was really starting to panic now– His thoughts were cut short by the ringing of his phone.
"Hello" He answered.
"Barry! Are you ok?"
"Um..yah."
"Well then, get back here!"
It was only then that Barry realized he wasn't in the cortex anymore, but put somewhere in the city.
'Uh-oh.' Barry thought and he raced back to S.T.A.R. Labs.
