If you asked me two years ago that I believed the world would end on 2012, I would have laughed you off. But now if you told me that it would only be a grim reminder. It started with Swine flu back back in 2009 everyone rushing to find a cure to the seemed to be untreatable disease. But then a company known as Niveus Pharmaceuticals found a solution. But turned out the vaccine had some side effects that turned whoever took turned into a monster. Luckily it didn't last that long because some lucky bastards were able to destroy their supply. But three years later it returned and this time there was no stopping it. Humanity fell. Only the strongest have been able to survive. And the strongest of them joined us, The BloodGuard. An elite team of survivors whose mission it is to take down the Croatoan plague and return the world to the way it was one way or another. And nothing will stand in our way.
I used to be accustomed to city life, but now if you're in the city odds are you probably don't want to stick around.
We were driving into Houston,Texas where a group of civilians needed rescue from their over run camp. The team and I decided to drive down there and rescue them.
"So let me get this straight" Said Robert "We're just going to go into a camp full of Croats? It's a suicide mission!". Robert was the veteran of the group he served in Iraq and was not too pleased to come back to see all of society destroyed shortly after. He was about 6 foot 2, and always had a look of determination on his face. He lost his family a couple days after he came home.
"Of course we are!" I said, "Besides would you rather have more of those things to deal with, or people who will be willing to help us?"
"Well Andy if we do pull off this thing, what would we do with them? We have enough mouths to feed as it is."
"We'll just have to figure something out but our main priority is to save them. We'll work it out from there" I explained.
"Are you ladies done arguing in there?" said Jessy, "It's okay ladies you are both very pretty". Jessy was a bit on the shorter side. She used to be scientist in Oregon, was one of the first people to discover the virus. When we found here she was more than willing to join our cause. Also the fact when we found here she was barely alive we found here with a big cut on her chest. She never told us where she got it from but I think she'd rather keep it to herself. "Now come on you two, the boss wants to speak to everyone before we go out." The Boss his name is Michael Jones but everyone calls him "one-eyed Jones" he says that lucifer himself took his eye, scratched it right out its socket.
So everyone available gathered in the vehicle bay there were at least 46 of us last I checked but each day we gain and lose some. But there are always a good supply of us. "So listen up ladies and gentlemen we have been asked to to rescue a camp of civilians in Houston. We also been told it's directly in a Croatoan hot zone. So stay alert. So i'm assigning groups Andys crew and Dexs Crew on this. The job is simple go in kill any Croat on site and get the civilians out to safety. Any questions? Good now get going!"
"Hey Andy have fun getting your ass kicked as we save the civilians" remarked Dex. Dex was the leader of his crew, we always had a rivalry between us. He's always been obsessed with being better than everyone else, It was the end of the world you'd think he'd worry about dying of all things.
"Yeah yeah Dex" i said sarcasticly, "just remember to aim at them this ain't Call Of Duty". I heard a chuckle come from his crew and mine. He looked embarrassed and his cheeks turned red, one me, zero Dex.
Two hours later we were just 10 minutes outside of Houston no turning back now. "Final weapons check" i said, "Wanna make sure if we're going into hell we bring some firepower."
"Andy something seems odd about about this mission" said jessy.
"What's so odd exactly Jess?" i asked.
"We are 10 minutes out and we still haven't ran into any croats yet, don't you find that a bit weird?"
"Weird?" said Robert, "We should enjoy stuff like this finally get some slack from dealing with those things, also means less of a chance of dying today"
"I agree with Robert" I said, "The less the better"
"Okay" she said, "But something just seems a bit off about this"
Then we saw it Houston,Texas. I've only been here once before it used to be a sight to behold, now it's mostly just debris and Croat. It's amazing to think people are surviving in this town with those Croats and even after the airstrikes happened. "Alright i'm contacting Dex's crew get head towards the meet up point."
"Okay sir" Robert said making a right turn towards the meet up point.
I picked up the radio. "Dex Crew this is Andy Crew please respond". It took a few seconds for them to respond.
"This is Dex crew go ahead Andy Crew".
"We are heading towards the meetup point where is your position"? I said into the radio.
"We're already there Assbutt, waiting for you"
"Alright, also remind me not to smack you when i get there. Over and out"
We met up under one of the highway bridges about a quarter mile away from the camp where they were at. "So here's the plan we are going to engage from both sides of the camp and try to take out as many as we can. Then move in and rescue as many as possible."
"Alright then" said Dex, "So tell me what do we do when we retrieve the survivors"?
"That's why Robert and your guy jeff will drive in and get us an escape. Any other questions Dex"? I said. He nodded his head which signaled he knew darn well what i said.
"I got something to say", said Jessy, "We still haven't seen any Croats shouldn't we be a little bit concerned"?
"Maybe but the longer we're here the more time those people are trapped so lets go." I knew there was something fishy about it but i'm not letting my curiosity get people killed….not again. "Alright Robert when i give the word you drive like you've never drove before buddy".
"See you soon sir." He said returning to the truck.
"Alright people", I said, "Let's go kick some Croat ass".
We walked towards the camp which was located near the ballpark stadium. As we passed through we saw some of the damage of the city. In the distance you could see skyscrapers with its windows shattered, the items and possessions of people that were dropped on the ground in the rush out. "There it is sir." said Jessy pointing towards a metal gate which looked like it was ripped apart from its hinges and laying on the ground. I made a silence motion to everyone we were about to go into the belly of the beast.
We walked a long way into we eventually reached a clearing I could see the entire camp. Tents and fires still lit everything looked the same way as if they weren't gone for even a hour. "It's like they all vanished" Said Dex with a look of concern.
"No Croats and no people, not even bodies. It's as if they did all disappear." said Jess.
Then we heard a noise coming from one of the tents. We all aimed towards it and were ready to fire. Sweat going down our faces knowing we maybe in for a show. I moved slowly towards the tent. I could hear a breathing of some sort coming from the inside of the tent as i moved closer. I was just inches away from the opening of the tent. I reached out my hand being ever so slowly, everyone aimed ready to shoot. Then one quick move i opened the tent to find a little girl she looked very startled. She almost screamed but i put my hand over her mouth quickly so hopefully we don't get any things attention. "Shhh were here to help" I said with my finger over my mouth trying to calm her down.
"It's just a little girl" Said Dex with confusion.
"What is she doing here, is she the only survivor"? Jessy wondered.
"I don't know but if shes here where is everyone"? I asked.
"Well isn't that the million dollar question" said a voice behind us.
We all turned to face a man about 6 foot 4, long hair, and wore all white. If i didn't know any better he'd be a moose.
"Now if you excuse me I'll be taking that child now" he said in a sharp tone like someone who will kill to get what he wants. The child grabbed my leg holding tight. I think I know who's responsible for this. "So are you going to give me the child or not because i'm kinda on a tight schedule". He said putting his hand out. I held onto her tight i could feel her fear being in front of this man.
"Are you responsible for all these missing people"? I asked holding my gun ready to shoot.
"Well they were a hazard to my plan Andy. now the child"
"How the hell do you know my name"? I said asked looking towards my teammates who all had this man in their sights.
"That's not important to such pitiful humans like you, now give me the child or feel pain like you never have before". He said, "Last chance".
I looked towards Jessy and Dex both with concerned looks on their faces and the child who was currently who looked to be frozen in fear. Then I looked at him and said "Go to hell". Then I aimed and him in the chest with my shotgun sending him down onto the ground. I looked at Jess and Dex both looked relieved and tense. But it was over. "Alright guys let's go get out of here call up Robert".
"I wouldn't do that if I were you" said the moose man. Who seemed to have gotten up without a scratch on him. "Now you're gonna regret doing that". Then we heard the sound of growling coming close.
"Sir, multiple targets on radar"! Yelled Jess, "And their closing in" I turned to the man in white of confusion.
"Who the hell are you!?" I yelled as Dex and Jess blocked the main entrance to the camp.
"Who do you think"? he said with a look of satisfaction on his face. I thought for a moment but that was impossible but is it possible that he was
"Lucifer"? I muttered.
"Correct" He said. And just like that he was gone. I stood there facing the place he was in confusion. How was this possible?
"Andy"! Jess screamed, "Here they come"!
She and Dex ran from the gate and ran towards the other side of the camp. I grabbed the girl and ran after them and saw through the side of my eye the gate breaking and dozens of Croats running towards us. And we ran towards to the closest building in sight. Minute Maid Park.
