Prologue:

Claire's POV

"Thank you so much for letting us stay," I say to my brother Jack. He chuckles softly and assures me that it's fine.
"Don't worry though, I'm planning to get a job so I won't have to use up all you've worked for," I quickly added.
"No, Claire. It's fine, what matters is that you and Aria get to finish school here without any distractions," He says, trying to reassure me. I just shook my head, our family has always been stubborn and Jack knew that, so he just nodded instead.
"Fine, but you have to balance working and studying," Jack says.
"Don't worry, I called up the inn yesterday," I say, "They agreed that I should work during night shifts due to the lack of customers at the morning."
"You really planned this haven't you," Jack says seriously.
"I need to do this, Jack," I say, my voice wavering.
He nods in understanding. I give him a small smile, assuring him that I was okay.
