A/N: So I was writing my next chapter of Rarely Pure and this came out! The song is Unsaid by The Fray, I hope you enjoy it!

She stared out the window, listening to the patter of rain hit the window pane. It had been raining for several hours with no signs of stopping. She was curled up on her window seat, her arms clutching a pillow to her chest. A half drunk cup of tea sat on the table nearby, turning cold.

Not that you're the one
Not to say I'm right
Not to say today
And not to say a thing tonight

She was confused. It was a confusion that could not be solved by her smarts. As hard as she tried, she couldn't be logical about it, about what she felt. She huffed irritably and wished for the hundredth time that feelings could be dealt with in a scientific and logical way. To be sure, she had tried, but it hadn't worked. Whatever these feelings were that she had for Seeley Booth, she couldn't quantify them.

But suffice it to say
We're leaving things unsaid
We sing ourselves to sleep
Watching the day lie down instead.

And we are leaving some things unsaid
And we are breathing deeper instead

She didn't know how it happened. They had been friends for so long but lately things had been different. Although he had always done it, she noticed now when he put his hand on her back or her shoulder. It was warm and comforting but scared her at the same time. Things changed but she didn't have a timeline for when. Was it before or after Sully? Before they met her father? Before or after finding her mother's remains?

We're both pretty sure
Neither one can tell
We seem difficult
What we got is hard as hell

They were partners, nothing could happen, she knew that. They had moments, of course, moments where she wanted to lean over and kiss him, feel his lips on hers, ignite the fire that was in both of them. But there was too much between them, they were best friends, she didn't want to risk what would happen.

A hundred thousand words could not quite explain
So I walk you to your car And we can talk it out in the rain

And we are leaving some things unsaid
And we are breathing deeper instead
And we are leaving some things unsaid

Of course they had moments. Moments in the car, in the Jeffersonian, in her apartment when he brought her Wong Foo's. She remembered Rebecca telling her that she had missed her moment with Booth. But for them, the moments kept coming, kept getting stronger. There was no one moment with them. She stared out the window again, trying to make sense of the turmoil she felt.

I can sing myself to sleep
No more

She knew what she felt, she was pretty sure that he felt it too. But she knew she wasn't ready to face the consequences. So she would hold it inside. Continue being friends with him, push away the emotions stirring within her. It was easier that way.

Not that you're the one
Not to say I'm right
Not to say today
And not to say a thing tonight.
