Two steps forward, one step back,
You fall, You get back up,
Remain on track.

The laughter of young, stories of old,
The richest of sounds,
Worth far more than gold.

One laughs, another cries,
As a war rages,
Through space, earth, seas, and skies.

Memories lost, and new ones made,
Both pleasant, and painful,
Making marks in your mind like a sharp blade.

One falls, so another may rise,
For one must always be struck down,
Just don't look in their eyes.

A distant call, a nearby shout,
As another fight soon breaks out,
And none able to hide that victory they doubt.

Some move slowly, others flee,
From the war destroying a planet,
And the same, nothing will ever be.

Blades clash, guns fire,
Sounds of battle ring clear,
Billows of smoke rising like tall spires.

Watch them fall, without rising again,
Their eyes fade, sparks snuffing out,
Will this war ever be over- and if so, when?

Just remember, a legacy lives on,
Long after the ones you know fall,
Long after their life-forces are forever gone.
