I know, I should finish Shooting Stars and Beating Hearts, but I really did love this idea, and I didn't want it to leave! So I started writing this. Enjoy.

Midnight's POV:

The day began like any other. I woke up to the sound of my parents screaming about who knows what. I never did pay attention to what they were saying. Instead, I just tried to go back to sleep. Then, I heard a loud thud coming from the roof. Curious, I went to go check it out.

As I galloped downstairs, I heard another thud. This made me a bit nervous. I ran to the backyard and grabbed our ladder. Carefully, I climbed up to the roof. What I saw surprised me.

It was a black alicorn ramming into the roof with full force. Worried for my family, I climbed back down and ran back inside.

"Guys!" I yelled. "We need to get out of the house before-"

As if on queue, the alicorn crashed into the house.

"Quick! I'll grab Nightwisp! You guys go!"

They ran out of the house, fear clearly expressed in their eyes. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw a small dark gray pegasus.

"Midnight," it called out.

"Nightwisp! We need to get out of here, now!"

I picked her up with my magic and dashed towards the door, dodging fire along the way.

"What's going on?" she inquired.

"To be honest, I'm not entirely sure, but we need to leave!"

I was almost at the door when the alicorn teleported in front of it. In a sudden burst of light, I found that I had teleported us out of there.

Opening my eyes, I saw that my parents were cornered by a group of alicorns that looked exactly like the one I had just faced. They cast a spell on my parents, and instantly, they had been engulfed in flames. I watched in horror as my parents were killed right in front of me. I knew then that it wasn't safe in the Crystal Empire anymore.

Cookie Crisp's POV:

The day began like any other. I woke up to the smell of chocolate chip pancakes roasting on the griddle. Licking my lips, I flew downstairs to reach them. Upon my arrival, I saw my father reading the daily newspaper.

"...what?" he muttered.

"What's up, dad?"

"Apparently, the Crystal Empire was attacked the other day!"

"What? Who would want to attack a place with innocent ponies?"

"Ponies who do bad things," he replied.

Just then, my mother came out, holding a tray of hot pancakes.

"Whooooooo's hungry?" she called.

I raised my hoof high up. "Me! I'm hungry!"

"Okie dokie loki! One pancake, coming right up!"

She picked up a spatula and grabbed a pancake, then tossed it onto my plate.

"Yaaaaaaaaaaay!" I yelled. I couldn't help but to act childish around my mom, mainly because she did so herself. She just had that kind of personality that made you want to act silly.

As we ate, I kept thinking about the attack. I couldn't help but feel sorry for the ponies who had been attacked. Never before had I been so eager to help other ponies as I did right then and there.

Well, there it is. I would appreciate it very much if you could review this. If I get enough positive feedback, I will continue. Until then! :)
