Disclaimer: I am not Aprilynne Pike. If I were, David wouldn't exist, and Tamani would have popped her flower long ago. Yep. *Cries*

As a quick note: This is as if Spells hasn't happened. As I have yet to get a hold of a copy, you know the drill. Also, this is my first fanfic. Please leave a review. Even flames can be helpful. (And yes, I do know it's short.)

Tamani slammed his fist against a wall. After Laurel left, his reason to protect Avalon seemed to be lacking. Although he had spent his entire life protecting Avalon, he still felt attached to Laurel. So attached that it hurt him to ever let her go. But she left, as was her nature. If it didn't hurt so badly, he would laugh at the irony. Just when he thinks he might have Laurel, she becomes involved with another. He never even had a chance. Still, he couldn't bring himself to lose intrest in her. Everything about her was intoxicating. It was as if she were his own personal sun. She was as vibrant as could be, full of life, and love. She was passionate about her beliefs, and kind. She was steady, calm... No wonder she wasn't interested in him. He was always changing rapidly.

No, Tamani was not very sure of himself. Brashness can be easily faked, but when it comes down to it, a mask never reaches the core, no matter how strong you make yourself out to be.
