Hiding by Smile-
Ace always had a smile on his face. Whether he was teasing Alice or killing faceless for clocks, the smile stayed planted on. Everyone in Wonderland thought he was crazy, and in truth, he really wasn't. That smile was worn, not because he was insane, but to hide what he was really feeling. Constantly the knight felt the pain of sadness, of loneliness, of desperation. Alice, all because of her, he was starting to feel them stronger. Even with the smile on his face the pounding on his clock grew stronger.
Now, as he headed for the Amusement clock while he was trying to get to the Clock Tower, Ace ran into Alice. His smile planted on he said, "Hi Alice."
Alice looked up at him and smiled slightly herself. "Hey Ace." That was when she looked around at her surroundings. "Why are you going to the Amusement Park?"
Ace's grin grew wider. "This isn't the Amusement Park silly, it's the Clock Tower."
The foreigner sighed, shaking her head. She pointed behind herself at the many rides. "Do you think the Clock Tower would have rides?"
The knight laughed. "Now that you mention it, it does look out of place!"
"Follow me," Alice instructed as she headed off to the Clock Tower.
…
"Ace," Alice said as she turned around. "Why did you follow me into my room?"
The confused man looked around. Ace put a hand behind his head and started to laugh. "So I did!"
Alice sighed. "Julius's office is the door at the end of the hall. Do you think you can make it there?" She asked.
Ace looked at her with a playful smile on his face. He walked closer to her and Alice took a step back. She couldn't move any further for she was up against her dresser. The knight stood an inch away from her now.
"I didn't come here to see Julius," Ace told her.
Alice tried to push him away. "What else would you come here for?" She already knew the answer but she wanted it to be something different.
His smile was wider. "To see you of course." Then the space between them was no more. Alice was confined in Ace's arms as he locked her in for a kiss. As the kiss continued Alice found herself kissing back, and found that instead of smiling Ace was frowning.
When Ace pulled away his face was serious. "I love you Alice."
Alice's eyes went wide. She thought he had just been teasing her like several times before. "Really?" She asked.
This annoyed him. "With you here I don't have to smile to tone down the pain, for it's all gone."
The foreigner was confused. Though as he bent his head down for another kiss she completely forgot what he had said and lost herself in the passion he was showing towards her.
(Ace is constantly smile -which really freaks me out- and I thought it might be just to hide the pain he felt. There's always at least one person you don't feel pain around and I decided to make Ace's person Alice.)
