Title: A Funny Thing Happened
Summary: There's nothing funnier than death!
Pairings: Thus far AbeMiha, TajiHana. Not sure if I will add in others to the mix! Sometimes they just write themselves in ;)
A/N: I decided to post this, rather than let it go to waste on my computer :/ I have some of chapter 2 ready so I just have to continue with it… I'm also working on Red String, but it won't be up until I post some of my other Taishirou stories _ But hopefully I'll continue SOON! …Partial depression sucks :/
Life is made up of many small coincidences. Abe had pondered this concept before, but nothing had quite struck out as an example until this moment in time.
A zipper. Common place and unoffending, it served the purpose of holding together fabrics and keeping objects from spilling out of their confines. Abe assumed Tajima never got the memo that their purpose of creation was supposed to be modest and discreet.
In elementary school the black haired boy often got in trouble for fighting the girls in class. No matter how many times his parents told him girls were not allowed to be hit, Abe knew there was an exception to every rule. For instance, Emi-chan who believed so highly in herself as the Queen of the Playground. She even felt it necessary to put others down for their appearances—Abe's poor standing amongst the casualties.
So he didn't feel entirely bad sitting out the rest of recess. She had deserved that bloody nose and Abe felt right having been the one to bestow justice. He also couldn't help feeling satisfied when half way into Recess Time her scream echoed off the monkey bars.
Tajima had learned the opposite usage for a zipper. Abe learned that when you have a mutual enemy in common it's not abnormal to form a small coalition against that force. Emi-chan learned that Tajima went natural under his jeans. Combined with the rambunctious toddler from the class down the hall, Elementary School wasn't quite as difficult.
Even after victory their quirky relationship remained quite intact. For opposites they appeared to be the best of friends—though nobody else could understand how.
Not that it matter so much, anymore.
Abe had often considered the coincidences that make up a human life. He watched the solemn man shakes his head to another concerned looking gentlemen and together they hoisted It into the bag. He heard the zipper close more than he actually saw the drab material pull together. Abe could no longer see It, and he wasn't sure if he was hoping the pieces would burst apart or remain as they were.
They hefted It into the truck before Abe could even make up his mind. Soon it was him, and the streets, and the passer-bys who chortled and gasped about the things they truly didn't understand. He didn't feel any less dignified as he cried, hearing the sirens far off where the cold body of his best friend laid encased.
Their friendship had begun with the sound of a zip, and had ended quite the same way.
Even Tajima had a hard time believing it himself, yet being dead helped put many things in perspective.
Sound good so far? I hope so! Had this idea for a while now, but got heavily inspired during a math class instead of taking notes. Look forward to writing more of this once my other projects simmer down quite a bit! :D
