A little of Fred and George

Fred and George were wildly scribbling down the last answers to their Potions O.W.L.s and were almost ready to turn them in. The proctor of the test called out, "Thirty more seconds!!"

'That should be enough,' George thought to himself. He looked at Fred, who gave him an affirmative look.

"5, 4, 3, 2, 1! Turn in your tests now!" The short, chubby man with the spectacles called out.

Everyone, including Fred and George, stood up to hand their tests to the front. But Lee Jordan, who was walking past Fred and George, accidentally knocked their tests out of their hands and they fell to the ground. Students passing by stepped on the tests, while all Fred and George could do was yell, "Stop!", "Don't!", "Look where you're going!" But nobody wanted their tests to be turned in late. So they ignored all their shouting and stepped on their tests again, and again, and again, ripping, tearing, and creating footprints on the tests.

"Sir," George said.

"Sir," Fred repeated, approaching the proctor of the exam.

"Sir, our tests were knocked out of our hands. Can we redo them please?" George asked, holding up his mutilated exam paper.

The short man looked at them suspiciously, and then replied slowly and calmly, "Is that even a question?"

"What, sir?" George asked.

"Is that a yes?" Fred asked.

He raised up an eyebrow. "If you did not understand my hint..."

"Oh, thank you, sir!" Fred said, overjoyed.

Fred and George spent the remainder of the afternoon redoing their exams. They were careful not to mutilate them this time. They thought the proctor was very kind to give them a second chance and he did not even ask them to turn the tests in when the time that the other children had was up. This way, Fred and George were perfectly content with their results.

They stood up and handed the tests to the proctor. "I'm sorry, but I cannot accept these tests. They're late," the proctor said.

"But, sir!" George protested.

"You didn't say you wouldn't accept them," Fred said.

"But I did not say I would," the proctor said calmly. "Professor Snape's strict policy."

"Do you know our names or roll numbers?" George asked.

"Why, of course I don't," the proctor said.

"You don't?" George asked. "THEN RUN!!!!" he yelled, as he threw his test into the stack of the tests and knocked the stack down, scattering the tests. With tests flying all over the place, and the proctor looking upset and furious, George and Fred ran out of the room.

Fred hi-fived George as they got out of the room. "That was close, bro!"

Outside the Great Hall, Snape was waiting for them. "Boys.... Detention. My office. Saturday at 8," he said sharply, looking at them in the eyes. "No excuses."
