It Takes

It takes a whole notepad to pour her emotions out, page upon page ripped out of its binder and crumpled or torn into pieces in a failing attempt to write the perfect song. The pages that survived this horrible treatment ended up tear-splotched and crinkled from the moments when her heartbreak engulfed her and her hands tightened around the fragile sheet of lined paper.

It takes a whole night to write her song. She hears the clock tick away the seconds remaining with every dull thud of her heart, every slow pump of blood through her veins. She watches the sun rises slumped against her window, hand on the cool glass and hair array.

And despite all of it, her heart still hurts. The tears still stream down her eyes as she contemplates the emotions rushing through her. She desires nothing more than to curl up in her bed and fall into an everlasting sleep. She wants her life to be a fairytale; she wants her Prince Charming.

But her life is never going to be perfect.

Finn is not going to come back to her, and she just has to accept that. He wants Quinn by his side and forever now, not her. He wants Quinn to be his Cinderella, and Rachel is just another ugly step-sister, nothing of importance.

To him, at least.

She gave Finn everything, and he repaid her by smashing her heart into tiny pieces. But she deserved it. She made the mistake, and she forced him to set her aside and find comfort in Quinn. That cruel fact doesn't stop her melancholy though- it still hurts to see them together.

She just has to live with the pain and hope it doesn't kill her.

It'll take a lot more than heartbreak to keep her from being a star.

Just because this whole episode made me weep! Review? :)
