I wish I could have seen her eyes. The sheer joy being expressed because of being told that the ocean was just up the hill was enjoyable to watch. Refreshing to say the least. The exhaustion melted away as her warm smile split her face into such an expression of expectant joy, that it made my heart twinge with jealousy.

It had been a long time since I could do that. Have such joy in looking forward to something. Anything. I have not greeted something ahead of me with such eagerness, besides an opponent to be killed. My thought left a bittersweet taste, and yet I did not mind.

I wish I could've seen her eyes. She seemed to light up. Just cuz of some stupid ocean. It was really...weird.

Why would anyone get that excited over some big water puddle? It's not like you can miss it, 'sides it smells too.

If I coulda seen her eyes then maybe I would've known. Instead I was trailin' behind her like she was to me earlier. Having her that happy made me a little angry, or maybe… it was somethin' else.

I don't do anything but anger lately.

So, I guess I wanted to know. Nothin' but pain and salt in wounds for me on the ocean. Why's it so 'nice' or pretty to her?

Mugen stood beside me, simply standing, with eyes that weren't seeing the ocean before him.

Jin was standing nexta me lookin' at every thing and nothing in particular.

But both of us looked when Fuu shrieked.
