Infatuation
They were sparring again. It was one thing he was glad of; the continuation of his lessons a sure sign of forgiveness for his actions on that day. He knew that it wasn't his fault that he had acted that way the way he did, but it didn't stop him feeling guilty about it.
It wasn't the fact that the Retro-virus had made him do it, but the fact that a part of him had set such a primal response off. He had been accused many times of being infatuated with her, he hadn't denied it. But he knew it was more, more than just plain infatuation, he was deeply in love with her.
He remembered the kiss exactly; it would be hard for him not to. For even amongst the confusion of the moment he could have swore that for a second she kissed him back.
They circled each other in the gym, looking for the perfect moment to attack. He knew to take his time; he would stay on his feet longer that way. He spun the fighting sticks before moving forwards and attacking. As usual she parried every shot. When he fell back she attacked and with a few well practiced hits on his arms and knees he was lying unarmed, on his stomach, on the floor. She quickly sat on him to stop him from getting up.
"You haven't been practicing." Teyla said calmly. "I find it just as easy to beat you as I did months ago."
John grinned and using a trick he learnt back in his training knocked Teyla off of his legs and onto her back before shifting quickly so he was now the one pinning her down.
"It is not for the winning that we practise," He said, echoing her words form around a year ago and winked suggestively.
He then stood and offered his hand to her, which she accepted. Together they put everything into their bags and left the room. John had bribed the commissary staff for the last tub of 'Rocky Road' ice cream and he had asked Teyla to aid him in the terrible task of devouring it. He had both the love of his life and ice cream, what could be better?
