Remus, who lay in a deep sleep across his emerald sofa, was woken by something wet and sloppy being pressed against his cheek. He opened his eyes to see a rather scruffy looking black dog, and discovered that the wet object that had been pressed to his face was in fact a nose.

"You're late" Remus said, half asleep, half irritated.

He watched as the dog changed slowly into the man he loved and saw his eyes darken.

"I'm sorry, Moony. I didn't mean to be" Sirius replied, exposing Remus to the power of his pleading eyes.

Remus sighed, knowing that the more he tried to stay mad at him, the more futile his attempts would be. So instead of glaring at him in irritation and disappointment, he stood up so that they were face to face and took Sirius' face between his hands.

"You're always bloody late, Sirius Black. And you're a complete idiot" Remus said, trying not to melt completely at the look that crossed Sirius' eyes; a look of complete upset. "And that's why I love you" he finished, watching Sirius as a smile spread across his face and lit it up.

"I hope that's not the only reason" Sirius said laughing.

"You know it's not, Padfoot" Remus replied as he wrapped his arms tightly around his lover's waist.

"Good" Sirius smiled, and leaned into Remus to quickly brush his lips against the other's.

"Sirius, what on earth have you got in your pocket. It feels like a brick" Remus said in puzzlement.

"Oh it is. I thought I'd hit a few muggles on the way home. Y'know, make old Walburga proud" A moment of silence was followed by an explosion of laughter as the words hit. By this time Sirius was beyond laughing; only quiet noises making their way out of his mouth as his body shook with silent laughter, whilst the man holding him was almost howling with laughter.

"Seriously though, what is it?" Remus' curiosity was beginning to get the better of him, and piqued as Sirius put his hand into his pocket and pulled out a book.

"It's for you; obviously." Sirius said with a shrug. "It's kind of an apology for being late. Also I thought you might like it, it's one of those old muggle fictions that you read sometimes." When he finished talking he looked at Remus to see that he had an odd look in his eyes and smile across his face.

"What" Sirius said after a moment.

"Nothing. That's just incredibly thoughtful of you Sirius"

"I've been known to be from time to time. I also got you this" He said drawing a bar of chocolate from his other pocket. "Because everybody knows that Remus Lupin loves his choc-"

But he never managed to finish his sentence as he was cut off by the aforementioned man kissing him so fiercely that both the book and chocolate were dropped and everything else was forgotten.
