Another flash of lightening lit up the sky. It was becoming awfully cold within the manor and Death the Kid pulled his blanket further around him, the mug of hot chocolate warming up his hands. He gazed out the large, glass window as he leaned back in his chair. The dripping of water calmed him and a content smile made its way across his face. Upstairs, Liz and Patty would be sleeping away, their snores drowned out by the sound of rain. The reaper wondered how anyone could possibly sleep through something as beautiful as a storm.
A burst of thunder shook the manor slightly and Kid snuggled further into the blanket. Nothing could make him happier right now. As he closed his eyes and inhaled deeply, he thought he heard the faint sound of knocking at the door. He brushed it off as his imagination and continued to breathe the air in. A couple more knocks later and Death the Kid came to the conclusion that there was indeed someone at the door. He placed his mug down and neatly folded the blanket, making sure it was symmetrical. Then the young boy padded towards the door, his hands shoved into his jean pockets. The white shirt he wore crinkled as he pulled open the door to reveal a soaking teenager.
She smiled at him sheepishly and shuffled her feet. The young raven-haired man sighed and signalled to her that he'd be back shortly. He ducked into the bathroom and grabbed a soft, fluffy towel for the young woman. Heading back towards her, he noticed how her (h/c) hair was sticking to her face rather nicely and the water droplets fell from her long, thick lashes.
Kid shook himself roughly as he handed _ the towel. He shouldn't be thinking that about his friend, should he? He examined her closely as she dried off. Although her clothes and hair were thoroughly soaked, she still managed to maintain perfect symmetry, much to Kid's happiness. He smiled gently at her as she walked towards his lounge room and picked out her favourite chair. A blanket and cup of chocolate sat in front of it, as if she had been expected.
The young reaper shortly joined her and the two sat together, silence taking over their thoughts. Occasionally their eyes would flicker towards each other and then shift away, shyly. It was rainy days like these that Death the Kid enjoyed the best and much to his pleasure, _ felt the same way.
