I don't own any X-Men characters nor am I making money off this. This is just a quick one-shot that popped in my head as I was thinking of ideas for the next chapter of my other story. This particular scene didn't fit with my other storyline, so I made it it's own story. Hope you like!

"Ah know Ah've been long overdue foah a visit," Rogue began. "Twenty years ta be exact. Ah guess Ah've just been a big coward this whole tahme. Aftah what's happened, Ah just couldn't face yah. Ah may not have come ta see yah, but that nevah meant that Ah've stopped thinkin' about yah. Yah'll forevah be a part of mah life, just lahke Ah know Ah'll forevah be a part of yours." Rogue leaned back in her chair and sighed heavily. "Is it too late ta tell yah how sorrah Ah am? Will it help ta tell yah Ah've been sorrah foah these twenty years? Ah don't blame yah if ya nevah forgive meh. Ah don't deserve forgiveness. But Ah do deserve the chance to apologize. Ah just wish Ah didn't wait so long. It just took meh a long tahme ta get ovah the guilt. Ah've beat mahself up so many tahmes ovah this, an' Ah know Ah've made enemies foah what Ah did ta yah. That is also why Ah haven't come ta see yah sooner. That is also why Ah sneaked in here. Ah couldn't face them. The ones who still think of yah as kin. They would throw meh out on sight. Or maybe worse. Yah were the love of mah life, but since then Ah've fallen in love with someone else. Ah've been able ta control this cursed power of mahne. Ah wished the timin' was different. Ah wished Ah was able tah experience this with yah. But Ah guess Ah was meant ta experience this latah in mah life. Ah was meant ta be with this othah man. Ah got to experience things yah nevah had a chance ta feel. Ah've always felt so bad that Ah've moved on with mah life. Ah got ta fall in love again, while Ah had left yah ta be a prisoner of solitude. Ah don't think Ah'd evah forgive mahself foah depriving yah of things Ah've experienced. Things that maybe in another world, yah and Ah could've experienced togethah. Years that should've been happy foah yah. But tahme heals, raht? Neither of us can move on unless we face each othah again. Maybe now we can close the chapter of this part of our lives…."

"Yah ready ta go now, Momma?"

Rogue turned around and saw her six-year-old daughter standing in the doorway. She was a beautiful, lively girl with dancing green eyes so much like her own.

"Ah'll be raht there, Sugh. Give Momma one more minute."

As soon as her daughter left, Rogue leaned forward and softly kissed his forehead. "Goodbye…"

Rogue discreetly wiped her eyes as she rejoined her waiting husband and family in the hallway. "Y'ok?" Remy asked his wife, his eyes concerned.

Rogue smiled despite the tears glistening in her eyes and took their year old son from Remy's arms. "Yeah… Ah needed ta see him. When Ah heard his parents were plannin' ta pull the plug this week, Ah couldn't put this visit off any longah."

Remy slipped his arms around Rogue's shoulders and kissed her cheek. "It mus' be hard, but y've been really brave t'do dis. I'm sure if Cody could hear y', he would've 'preciated y' comin' t'see 'im."
